I have a few messengers... and for the most part I ignore them. I prefer ones that let me lurk invisibly so that I can pounce on individuals instead of be flooded by lots of people wanting to talk... I'm terrible at multitasking.

If on the odd event I log onto AIM and you want to talk to me, I am: EvokenNovember

I used to use ICQ a bit until the upgrades started messing up and being unable to actually function on my computer.... and I'm not sure where to get older versions.

ICQ and Yahoo suck ass in my opinion.

Mind you, AIM is also complete rectal juice, but eveyone I know uses it.

At the suggestion of someone here, I downloaded Trillian and have been using it with success. It allows you to connect to others using ICQ, AIM, Yahoo and MSN all in one handy little interface. And there aren't any ads. If you use more than one of any of those messengers I suggest checking it out. It's pretty sweet.

It alos looks nice.
I've been using it for 2 months and then it started acting buggy so I had to go back to AIM and I realized just how disgusting the normal aim window is.

You can also use trillian to connect to IRC channels everywhere.

I knew I should have stayed away from this stuff. I can't get Trillian to keep me online in my MSN account. Anyone know how I fix that?

I can stay online with MSN messenger, but then I miss the ICQ and AIM folks, right? I was hoping this Trillian was a one-stop-shop.

You should be abole to stay consistantly online with all mediums.

Sorry, I meant "able".

Let me rephrase it for you--- You can use everything at once with the program. Just set it up right. If you've got technical questions, either state them clearly or ask the people that built it.

Maybe that was too obtuse. I'm not asking if I can be online. I'm asking HOW. Is there a win98 bug with using this thing? This is the message I get when I click to be online:

*** Reconnecting to MSN as "spankling@hotmail.com".
*** Will attempt 10 connections with 60 second intervals.
*** Connecting to MSN as "spankling@hotmail.com", attempt #1.
*** Forward List:

*** Allow List:

*** Reverse List:

*** Your display name has been set.
*** You have successfully logged on to MSN Messenger.
*** You have 0 unread messages in your inbox and 0 unread folders.
*** Lost connection to server. Err 0:0

Is there a simple explanation or do I need to bug Trillian?

I have no idea what that means... You do have a messanger account though right? Because it won't sign on just any old hotmail address, u have to have the actual messanger program account...

Anyway, I'm not sure what that means. Double-check your login setings/connection mannager for the account and make sure all the fields are correct.

I have the messenger account. I'll contact Trillian because I can't see anything wrong with the fields.

Sometimes I go there. If anyone is there, it's usually zenboy who doesn't talk. Once NastyPope was there though.

We should have a link here to a javascript thingydoo like they have on other sites to connect to that. It'd probably increase traffic into the chat.

Yay! Someone noticed! I've been off in my home town with my family, and in my nation's capital with more family and some friends, for the past two weeks or so. Just got back about ten hours ago, and I am having a helluva time catching up on the forum. It doesn't help that my PC shat itself and I had to reinstall Windows (went for Win2K this time) the week before leaving. As such, I have barely posted in nearly three weeks.

I'm back in time for the Strip Creator's first birthday, though.

Oh, incidentally...

ICQ: 10419916 (DexX)
AIM: deXXXer (though I barely use it)
MSM: dexxxer (I think - almost never use it)
YIM: mcdexx (not on Yahoo! much, either)

We should arrange for everyone to grab Yahoo! Messenger and jump on for a voice chat some time. It's about the only thing that Yahoo! Messenger is good for, and the channels are usually full of trolls, rednecks, and children, so arranging to have you cool folks in there would be good.
