January 23: President Kerry is assassinated in an apparent suicide bombing.

January 24: The Secret Service, trigger-happy after the Kerry assassination, takes the fall when President Edwards is killed by an apparently accidental gun discharge. The errant agent is gunned down.

April 21: The Cheney Report calls Kerry's assassination "terrorism" and Edwards' death "accidental". Cheney accepts the VP nomination from President Dennis Hastert, and is approved by acclamation.
