Finding B (Y-Intercept)
Mr. Algebra, How do you find the equation of a line using a gragh, table, and a tile pattern?
Well, You first need to find the m (slope) and the b (y-intercept). Look at your gragh and look where the line starts at. Or look at figure 0 y-intercept. That is Your B (Y Intercept) of the equation.
Finding M (Slope)
I see
Then, we need to find M (Slope). To find the slope, we need just 2 points from the line. Then see what's the change in x and y between the 2 points. That's your Slope. Remember Slope= Rise over Run.
Distribute M and B into the Equation
After you got your M (Slope) and B (Y-Intercept), You need to distribute them into the Slope-Intercept form (Y:Mx+B). If we said B was 2 and M was 3. The equation of the line would be Y=3x+2.
