east coast trip

	tuesday and wednesday i worked. brian is at the house. thursday i visited with tommy, got on the road to the east coast around 5 pm. drove all night.


	2 cups of coffee, $100 gas. friday morning i got to delaware. took the turnpike some of the way to avoid hills. hung out at coffee shops. cheapest hotel i could find was $80.


	alarm is set. it's 2 am. tomorrow it's chirch at 11, lunch at noon, gravesite at 1. it's a memorial service for my mom. nephew has covid so we are not all meeting at the house; we each have hotels.


	i have a few words in mind for the service. didn't write anything down. maybe i'll bomb. tough room.


	I ended up not saying anything. Nice visit with folks afterwards. We rented her second favorite restaurant, Harry's Savoy Grille, and had a tastefully restrained wake,


	where i had one gin & tonic and lots of coffee. hung out at jamie's afterwards, then drove home all night so i wouldn't miss food not bombs, then fell asleep in my bed and missed it by an hour.
