This is the customary greeting between two people who have nothing to say to each other. I usually sigh really loud instead of uttering this redundant phrase.
"Bless her heart."
'Bless her heart' is a good example of office reading between the lines. It's a nice way of saying "So and so is a well meaning semi-retard" as in...
Kim got her hair stuck in the copier and sat there all day until someone cut her out, bless her heart.
"He pursuing opportunities with another company."
This is a nice way of saying so and so has been fired and we're trying to preserve their dignity, that is until you see them working at the TGIFridays down the street.
