Yes, I am elitist, why is that so bad?
I like both grind and grindcore. I like what hardcore I've heard. I don't like mallcore, it's boring to me. People bitch about me putting a label difference on metal and mallcore, but would you call Snoop Doggy Dog classical, or Creedence Clearwater rap? Labels are not there to limit your listening, they're there to let you listen to what you like, and not listen to what you don't. Maybe I am a bit anal about my music, but someone has to be at this point. The kind of music I like is horribly overshadowed by the more commercial style. Surely, I don't think that style is bad just because it's popular, but I don't like the majority of commerical/mainstream music.
One of the main reasons I fight so hard to keep the styles seperate is because I work so hard locally to keep the underground metal scene going. We put on mallcore shows to keep our venue happy, but we also fully support bands that dare to be themselves. IF you like listening to Slipknot, fine. I'd rather listen to Slipknot and Linkin Park than Britney Spears, but that's really not saying much.
By the way, Drexle. IT's not metal, but it's funny, check out Cookie. I dunno who it's by, but it's a parody of Limp Bizkit's "nookie".
