I think Kevin Smith interviews and commentary tracks are funnier than his movies. He improvs well, and is really good at making banter with people.
Lord knows that Jay Leno "stays in character" as well, because he's a plastic fuck. Most people swear that he's the biggest egoist ass the second the camera is not on him.
Kevin Smith rules. I think it's awesome that a director can make a low-budged black and white film with all his friends as the characters, and eventually rise up to the point where his name and works are synonymous with Star Wars. He's a decent actor in his own right, too.
--- Do you want ants? Because that's how you get ants.
Others have made better first films. Others are better directors.
But Kevin Smith has a unique flair with dialogue, and remains an everyday Joe despite living in LA and making movies for a living. So many other guys seem quite changed by Hollywood. I respect that Smith is still a geek.
