Maybe it's just me, but I never really dug Chevy Chase.

His Fletch is horrid in comparison to the Fletch novels. His slapstick isn't quite as good as Steve Martin's slapstick, and Steve Martin slipped in better subtle high-brow humor.

John Candy pulled off the lovable loser better.

Bill Murry was just all-around funnier.

If it wasn't for National Lampoon's Vacation, I could argue that Chevy Chase never had a TRULY funny movie. In Caddyshack, Chevy Chase was carried by a great cast overall. Chevy Chase shows in Caddyshack 2 that he really isn't funny.

While people are beginning to complain that Conan is getting the Tonight show, I harken more back to Carson who was off-the-wall, funny, and willing to do silly things.

Conan O'Brien is truly funny. Lewis Black would not be able to interview people because he has to stay in character to be funny, and Kevin Smith would turn the Tonight Show into The Murder-Death-Kill Horror Boredom Stupid "Clerks" Hi, I'm Kevin Smith Show.
