Damn that last music thread tricked me into D/L Particle Man by They Might Be Giants and now I can't get it out of my head. I don't even like it either it's just annoying.

Well MacGyver. It looks like we're stranded here forever. Luckily I've got my ten favorite disks, a portable CD player and a multidimensional power outlet.
Shit, why didn't you say so? Hand me those disks and player and I'll whip up a boat using them, my knife, one of my socks and this rock..
What? Are you nuts? You even think about touching Sgt. Pepper and the boys and I'll bitch slap you faster than you can say 'Gilligan'.
Are you mental? I can get us off this island! Now hand over the goods, jackass!
Later...
...and that's when I ate him.

Ok everyone, this one's for you. Sing along with the computer as loud as you can!
I'm Henry the Eighth I am, Henry the Eighth I am, I am,
I just got married to the widow next door ...
And she's been married seven times before,
And every one was an Henry, She wouldn't have a Willie or a Sam (no Sam!)...
That's not loud enough. You know your punishment -- next week you get MacArthur Park.
I'm her eighth old man, I'm Henry, Henry the Eighth I am!
Second verse, same as the first! I'm Henry the Eighth I am ...

Indy Pete will probably cornhole me, sans butter, for saying this, but I think Tool's "Schism" is a swell song. It has been stuck in my head for days.

I have to pull you up on this one. Massive Attack are godlike geniuses, responsible for many a classic tune. Plus they are partly responsible for Tricky getting a recording contract.

Is Superunknown worth picking up? It's going really cheap in one of my local record stores.

Okay, here's mine, in no particular order...

U2 - Achtung Baby (though I'd prefer a bootleg from their Zoo TV tour)
David Bowie - Heroes (as above, produced by Brian Eno in Berlin)
Mansun - Attack of the Grey Lantern (without this record, the course of Andy Dougan's life would have been quite different...)
The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed (the record that scared a million parents)
Ennio Morricone - Once Upon A Time In The West OST (he invented that haunting spaghetti Western sound)
George Gershwin - Rhapsody in Blue (the original jazz / blues symphony)
BBC Symphony Orchestra - Last Night of the Proms (ridiculous, jingoistic classical fun)
Joan Baez - Vol. 2 (I think that's the name of the tape - although she's American this contains many of my favourite recordings of a lot of classic, ancient Scottish, English and Irish folk ballads)
Rupert Sings An Hour Of Nursery Rhymes (reminds me of my childhood... sadly still not out on DVD...)
Legions of the Damned - The Face of Chaos (not too well known yet, but still destined to be an industrial pop classic...)

I would probably have chosen Bladerunner by Vangelis but Andy got there first. I trust it's eclectic enough for our diverse tastes.

I wish I knew. Could you rip me some mp3s of them? Oops, I meant to say that trading music is theft, kids, and every time you record a song for someone, you are yanking bread away from the starving child of a record company vice-president.

(Just say "okra" and I'll be in touch by e-mail.)

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: YEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

Long, sensible answer: If you like hard rock, get it. Superunknown is one of my favourite CDs, and Spoonman alone makes the whole album worth buying. It is sad that the band split up a few years back...

Apparently the Soundgarden singer is joining Rage Against the Machine.

Unless he already has, which would make me look somewhat foolish.

Don't feel foolish - I only heard this about a week ago. I was never a big fan of RAtM's vocals, but I always loved their instrumentation, so this is good news for me. :)

PS. I'm seeing TMBG live next month! WOOHOO!

I would like to echo those sentiments, but would also interject that I prefered Limo Wreck and Mailman over Spoonman.

I heard a few months back that Chris Cornell was working with RAtM, but at the time it was nothing more than just a couple of tracks here and there. Is he seriously joining up fulltime?

Sigh... now if only Kim Thayl and Ben Shepard would get into gear with some other band. Of course, I really don't think they'll have that same magic present in the Badmotorfinger/Superunknown days ever again.
