There's one hideous spike-heel-to-the-eyeball hit song that's been haunting me for several years now, called "This Kiss." I just Googled it and found that it's by someone called "Faith Hill." I hope this person falls into an open sewer grate and is eaten by feral albino crocodiles.

*cough* Will Smith *cough*

Not any particular collaboration of his in general, I just noticed that "Getting Jiggy With It" is on 'The Hip Hop Years' album, yet "Gangters Paradise" isn't.

I saw them in Ann Arbor in 1994, opening for a hot 2-lead-guitar Southern rock revival thing. Watching Fruvous, I thought, "this is the faggiest faggotry in the realm of Faggotia!" Needless to say, I burned a path across the place to sign up for their mailing list and then walked out on the headliner. I mean the headliner didn't have any songs, just guitar solos.

When they go on tour again, I'm going to sell all my possessions and follow them, like the Dead.

Here's WFMU's worst of the '80s.

The first 5 I certainly agree with. I keep trying to think of something witty to say about them, but there are only so many synonyms for "shit."

Then we get to numero six. "Another One Bites the Dust" may itch like an impacted hunk of musical earwax, but I hardly think it deserves to share the stage with the likes of "We Built This City" and "Keep on Loving You." Say what you want about Freddy Mercury-- he was always good for a laugh, and he knew it damn well. More than you can say for these other pricks.

I am gratified that two of the songs I mentioned earlier made the Bottom 13, and Billy Joel, whom I mentioned, accounts for two more, and I had in mind fully THREE of the others on the list. That's 7 of the Bottom 13 off the top of my head (if you use creative accounting).

Regarding "Uptown Girl," I have this fond reminiscence (Reminiscing BTW is another horrible song): When I was a wee lad, we used to parody Mr. Joel's lyrics as follows.

Uptown slut
I'll bet I'm gonna fuck her in the butt
We typed these lyrics into a speech synthesis program for the Atari (SAM: "Software Automated Mouth"). It sounded much like a perverted Stephen Hawking. I think this was the nascence of Tobor.

Blood Sweat and Tears I like. It might come down to the fact that I think that David Clayton Thomas is a killer singer and that he's one of the cats whom I can cover almost perfectly. "And When I Die" is brilliant, aside from the tossoff middle-eights, I mean. Spinning Wheel can drag a bit. Listen to "Go Down Gambling" should the opportunity arise. Great stuff.

I like a lot of Billy Joel's stuff, althought the ballads sort of get on my tits. "Goodnight Saigon" pretty much offers him a pardon from Adult Contemporary hell.

The Proclaimers are utter schlock and they really tripped over their box of heart-shaped gift candy with "Let's Get Married." PU.

Oddly, "Wuthering Heights" is about the only thing that Kate bush ever wrote that I liked. Pat Benatar's cover makes Kate's sound like affected crapola, though. Patty can sing, y'all. And she's not some full of shit rock star, either. The girl has class.

I'm sure I'd be hearing the Friends theme song a lot in hell. And "Tiny Bubbles" and "Butterfly Kisses." There'll be Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Mystikal, and pretty much all the Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys types. A little zydeco will probably be thrown in for good measure.
And I have no doubt that Tom Green will actually make an appearance to do song and dance numbers live. He'll have Tim McGraw and Will Smith as back-up vocals.

Funny thing is; as saccharine as Faith Hill is, that song "Breathe" has a hook the size of Indonesia. I like it.

Faith Hill does remind me of Suharto in certain ways.

I noticed that "Ruby" as performed by Kenny Rogers made lots of people's "worst" lists. I think it's one of Kenny's only listenable records. How could you not like a song with the verse:

She's leaving now, 'cause I just heard the slamming of the door
The way I know I've heard it slam a hundred times before
And if I could move, I'd get my gun and put her in the ground
Oh, Ruby, don't take your love to town

Maybe it wasn't intended as humorous, but I always got a chuckle out of that. Anyway, compare this with "You Decorated My Life." Decorated my fucking life? What kind of limp-dick love song is that? I guarantee you, it is on heavy rotation in Hell.
