After reading bunner's and some other person's posts, I have to confess that both ELO and Hall and Oates fall into the category of "shit I should hate, but for some unfathomable reason I don't." This is music I would never buy, much less put on at a party and go "listen to this!" Unless I were on a ten-day Xanax and vodka blackout where I wake up in another state wanted on Federal weapons charges.
BUT! But when it comes on in the supermarket or dentist's office, I tell you I am thanking the good Lord in Heaven (not that I believe in Him) that at least it's not a Barbra Streisand/Neil Diamond duet. Please understand that I am often under the influence of drugs and Dental Hygienist cleavage at the dentist's. Also at the supermarket.
My Hell soundtrack plays for me most days, most of the time. I don't know why my brain, independent of my will, feels the need to dredge up such hits as "Ride Like the Wind," "Reunited," or "Eye of the Tiger," much less "The Greatest Love of All" or "The Wind beneath My Wings" or "God is Watching Us from a Distance." And let's forget 95% of Billy Joel's catalog. Really, let's.
