Probably the most telling feedback I could give is that I don't think anyone ever turns up to BM.com on their own and learns how to play - you need to have a friend in the game who is willing to teach you. gabebillings taught me the basics, and triskaideka tutored me up to my current incredible skill level. *coughbullshitcough*
Personally, I think that the step-by-step interface that is default for a new user is far more confusing than the express interface. In its place, I would suggest that there be only one interface, but new users by default have some kind of extra helper turned on, such as an extra box on the game screen that explains how each attack works, something like that.
New users may also be restricted (voluntarily - the option should be able to be turned off) to simpler button sets. Maybe, by default, a random button selection for a newbie could only return a TL button with only regular and swing dice.
Just some ideas...
Kick-arse site, by the way. Once I got the hang of it, I was hopelessly addicted. I'll be buying some real BMs of my own in the near future. (I have fifty bucks from my birthday burning a hole in my pocket.)
