There's supposed to be 10 years in between each of the movies. Although Episode II and III break this rule, with there being 3 between II and III and about 18 between III and IV.

So someone explain this to me:

In RotJ (or was it ESB?) Luke asks Leia what her mother was like. She responds that her mother was beautiful but "very sad." I just assumed this was gonna be Padme and she married Senator Organa or something. But in RotS, Padme dies. So unless Senator Organa's wife knew the whole deal with Anakin and Padme and the evil plots and took this whole burden upon herself, I'm thinking originally, Padme wasn't supposed to die and this was one of those oversights. Especially since when Luke was asking, he knew Leia was his sister and was probably fishing for info on his mom.

Or am I completely wrong and will be slaughtered by nerds for daring to question the Word of Lucas?

It's more or less implied that Leia is strong with the force, so she's probably remembering her mother right from the moment she was born or something like that.

If I was Lucas, that's how I would argue away such a question.

Why does Padme have to be the only beautiful and sad person in the galaxy? Her mother could've been beautiful by coincidence, and sad because the galaxy had been taken over by an insane evil dictator.

Or she could've been sad because no one around her can act worth a damn and everything she says sounds like fanfiction written by a 14-year-old.

I think it's common knowledge that Senator Organa and his wife are Leia's adopted parents. Hence why Luke asks, "Leia, do you remember your mother? Your real mother?" So she's describing what she remembers from her infancy about Padme, not Mrs. Senator Organa.

That's another thing I love about these new movies. Their hyper-detailed backgrounds are shot full of as much visual allusions and humour as a vintage Mad magazine parody.

I have changed my mind about the "NOOO!" scene now and have decided Lucas should once again re-edit the original trilogy so that Vader screams "NOOO!" when the first Death Star Explodes, and then he screams "NOOO!" once again as he watches the emperor try to kill Luke, right before he decides to save him.

Then the scene of Vader screaming should be randomly thrown in throughout the movies just to remind the audience that Vader is constantly tormented.
