First, let me say, "Well said, ladyjdotnet."

Well, I find you generally intolerable. Does that count as being ticked off?

Okay favorite movies:

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan -- My all time favorite. Not a single wasted scene in this flick. And who would have known? Shatner can actually act!

Lawrence of Arabia -- Just gorgeous.

Planet of the Apes (orignal) -- An exciting movie with depth. Unlike the remake.

Airplane! -- The single funniest movie ever made.

Raiders of the Lost Ark -- Just plain fun, and perfectly paced.
Hey, I managed to have a half-way decent conversation about churches and location with you! I figured you wern't all that bad.

Then again, sometimes having to drive all they way out to Derby to get my sax out of Banco's can get to my head...

On a side note, I noticed a large billboard stating that pro-sports were coming back to Conneticut. How? A basketball team called the "New Haven Ninja's".

Jeez, if you hate me, just say so.

Ack, please don't. When abuse has failed, ignoring is the best option (actually, it is usually a better option than abuse in the first place, but is nowhere near as satisfying). This would only give he-who-must-not-be-acknowledged more attention than he deserves.

As for favourite movies, I have seen some good ones, and want to put a few into my own list, and add a few more of my own...

- Fight Club
- Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cafe
- The Shawshank Redemption
- Stand By Me
- Martin
- Galaxy Quest
- Pi
- The Blair Witch Project
- Little Shop of Horrors (musical remake)
- Did I mention Polanski's The Tentant in my previous posting? I intended to.
- Run Lola Run
- Flying High (Airplane's Oz title for some reason)
- Birdy (a beautiful drama with one of the funniest final gags ever filmed - no spoilers, just see it)
- Pretty much anything by Italian horror maestro Dario Argento. Profondo Rosso (aka Deep Red) is my favourite of his, but I also love The Stendhal Syndrome, Terror at the Opera, Suspiria, and The Bird with the Crystal Plumage.
- Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
- Willow
- Demons
- The Sixth Sense
- Unbreakable
- Proof (Andy will love this one - Russell Crowe's big break)
- The Interview (possibly the greatest Aussie drama ever filmed - highest possible recommendation)
- The Custodian
- The Mad Max trilogy, which I heartily suggest fans watch in a marathon sitting - they work beautifully together.

As I said, I love movies, especially horror movies, so I have many, many favourites apart from these...

Yeah, I understand the any-attention-is-still-attention principle, but it's clear that he is completely oblivious to just how many people think he's a spaz. He thinks that you and I are the only ones.

Stand By Me is a fucking great film, top class, I love it.

Jerry and Tom is pretty good too, can't remember who's in it, but it's a black comedy about mafia hitmen, not side splitting or anything, but I watched it while half-baked one night and it was excellent.

Almost Famous
The Big Lebowski
Full Metal Jacket
Transformers - The Movie

(granted, there's a whole load of new Decepticons and Ironhide blows up, but the Optimus Prime death scene is worth it)

Did anyone ever see "Journey of Honor"?

I just remembered this on a whim: It was a pretty neat film about a Japanese Price during the Edo/Tokugawa Shogun era(1400-1800). The deal is his dad(Toshiro Mifune) sends the kid to Europe to buy guns to win the war in Japan and he and his mentor(Sho Kosugi end up traveling all over, enslaved, escaping, etc. It's pretty cool, especially where they have a (sort-of)duel between the Spanish guy and the Samurai.

Right, about Pearl Harbour...that movie has awesome action scenes. TONS of explosions. It's kinda like titanic for me. I just fast forward til' i get to the part where the ship is sinking and everyones falling hitting the props. All you gotta do is ffwd until the part where those ladies are like "get to the hospital now" and watch from there until you get to the part where the president is talking, then fastforward it to when they bomb japan. Theres just too much "chick flick" parts in that movie.

Actually, it's "arena football" played in the New Haven Coliseum. It's supposed to be the new thing, making football an inexpensive family thing (like The Bluefish in Bridgeport).

I don't hate you, but you can be awfully annoying at times. I sometimes wonder if you are truly that way, or if you turn off the edit feature between your brain and keyboard here so you can relax in a way you can't do at home. But then, I could be generalizing about the behaviors that are required by your religion.

Oops... I just thought the name was goofy. And plus, who can visualize football players as Ninja?

The Bluefish are.. well, in my mind the whole thing is strange. Right in the middle of down-town Bridgeport is this nice shiny stadium, with clean sidewalks and everything, and yet you run from the parking lot to get in there. It's kinda one of those Ganim deals where the place is nice, but it's still dangerous. I went to 2 or 3 of their games.

No... I don't worry as much about what happens here and wind up offending people cause I get careless. It's true, in ways I relax about what I say here becuase I can't otherwise, but it doesn't have much to do with relgion. I don't really offend many people off-line.

What the Cat Dragged In

I can't believe I completely missed out on Hong Kong cinema, one of my favourite genres...

Jackie Chan:
- Project A (1 & 2)
- Police Story (1 & 2)
- Fearless Hyaena
- Drunken Master (1 & 2)
- Armour of God II: Operation Condor
- Rumble in Vancouver, uh, the Bronx, sorry. :)

Jet Li:
- Once Upon a Time in China
- Fong Sai Yuk

John Woo (his US stuff has been pretty much all shithouse, sadly):
- Bullet in the Head (his best by far, in my opinion)
- Hard Boiled
- The Killer
- A Better Tomorrow (1 & 2)

Others:
- City on Fire
- Prison on Fire
- Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (yeah, I know, not Hong Kong)

Oh, and a new favourite, and one of the greatest horror films ever made, a fantastic little Japanese flick called Ring. This is quite easily the most terrifying films I have ever seen. Parts of it made my heart almost stop, and I felt shell-shocked for hours afterward.

Damn! I just realised I left my favourite director, Peter Jackson, out of all my lists so far:
- Bad Taste
- Mest the Feebles
- Brain Dead
- Heavenly Creatures
- Forgotten Silver
- The Frighteners

If only one director in the whole world could get The Lord of the Rings right, PJ is the one. He is a filmmaking genius.

Did I mention I love movies? The hundred or so films I have mentioned in this thread are just my favourites... :)

Jackie Chan is great. Not well made, but still beter than Rodger Corman.

Jackie Chan:
Rumble in the Bronx
Police Story 1, 2
Supercop
First Strike
Who am I?
Crime Story
Twin Dragons
Drunken Master(remake)
Shanghi Noon
Rush Hour
Miracles
Mr. Nice Guy

Jet Li's "Once upon a time in China" series(1,2,3) rocks.
