He's an alumni of my college - Marquette University here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. For some reason, on all the newsletters that my school sends out they include him on their "List of Notable Alumni", right after Sen. Joseph McCarthy. And what's even funnier is that they describe him as an "author" and not a money grubbing hyperactive nutjob.

My boss, who is from Africa, told me today that the Mandingo are a Muslim tribe of Liberians who discourage inter-marriage among cultural groups there. Which adds a whole 'nother level of fuck-upedness to the user: Mandingo.

But for some reason, I had to have the Buck Kalinga Pro. It's the first large knife I could get a good grip on (excluding the Kershaw Military boot knife) and didn't feel overly awkward.

Mediocrity at its most average.

The Kalinga is an awesome knife. Never would've gone for it from looks alone, but having handled it, well, it just said "buy me." Plus I get to call it the "Kunnilingua."

I was wanting a large folder that day, and so after handling about 900 different knives, I got this:

Kershaw Storm II. I paid too much for mine, but you can get them for $30 at Wal-Mart, and they beat anything else in the price range. Very good blade steel, a big step above almost anything else in the typical big box display case, except maybe the Spydercos and the high-end Gerbers that are marked "Legendary." So sharp from the factory that you can just wave it at a cardboard box, and the box will fall apart in fear.

So right now I am carrying two different Kershaw folders designed by Ken Onion, one on the right and one on the left. I didn't set out to do that. They're just that good.

I like knives.
