My problem is that war has no merit anymore. There is no honor in victory.

I think all people who can and wish to should fight, and those to can't or don't wish to should be allowed to step back. There should be no stupid bickering about if we should or not.

People used to fight over land, now we fight over intangible ideals. Who's right and who's wrong. Personally, I'd rather not fight in a war where I really don't agree with either side.

Maybe we should have a battle of the bands. I'm sure AC/DC would kick Habneb-Al-Jabar's ass. :)

Well, I admittedly haven't read the Mirror for a long time, but their advocacy of the racist and homophobic opinions held by that General "Mr" John Guthrie or whatever his name was don't qualify them as left-wing in my book.

War involves a lot of killing.

War is [u]very[/u] bad.

The commission of a bad act may only be justifiable if it prevents the commission of further bad acts.

Thus, to kill someone who is trying to kill you - self defence - is justifiable, if no other viable option exists.

Justification of a bad act does not make it a good act.

For example, I may kill a man in order to directly stop him from killing my wife. Such an act would be justifiable and necessary, but it is still the killing of a human being, and cannot be a good act.
