[Click to view comic: 'Your daily dose of Innuendo']

Is this plagiarism, or is the appearance of an innuendo based on a broken appendage just a coincidence?

I'm thinking coincidence, unless Penny-Arcade start writing comics under the influence of absinth. I'd pay hard cash to see the results.

Any other coincidental comics you've noticed recently?

I think that was a successful coincidental effect. No paradox backlash for that comic strip, im my opinion. I've seen plagiarism before right here on stripcreator (i.e. SC people taking from other strips, as opposed to the other way around), and it's seldom so cleverly concealed.

Of course, the real test would be to see if all the strips by that author resemble a stripcreator strip. Then we would have the first ever recognized case of a published cartoonist ripping off a stripcreator.

You'd have known it wasn't coincidence if ythe second frame read, "Aha! It is me, Jesus!"

That said, I've been "ripped off" in my own mind at least twice. Once as documented on January 28th of this year in this thread, and once when somebody (Tom the Dancing Bug?) ran with my idea of invading Antarctica whith which I kicked off CC 51.

I've accidently "plagiarized" others once or twice. Someone once said there are really only seven stories that can be told; the rest are just variations on a theme. Maybe there are only seven comics as well. Very rarely is a gag so original and clever that nobody else could possibly have thought of it.

That strip was ripped off by Tom Wilson from Ziggy, apparently. But bunner deleted it since then.

I'm pretty certain it's a coincidence, I always was. I've ripped off so much material I ought to have my own legal department; but never other strippers without acknowledgement.

Also, I read the Comic Competition thread in kaufman's previous post; it was bloomin' marvellous it was.

There's also that Penny Arcade comic that featured a man-raping robot.
