this link came up this summer on a list I'm on, and thus I have an answer of sorts for ya'll for the "who thought this was a good idea for a game" question:
Sigh. I will not defend. I will merely add context.
It is the custom of kids in Japan to abuse their friends and acquaintances by poking them in the ass (preferably the anus). The traditional means of doing this (and believe me, using the word traditional here is just as painful for me as it is to you, dear reader) is to lock one's hands together, extend the forefingers (in a "this is the steeple"-like manner),
and then, when one's friend is least suspecting it (which, to my mind, would be a common moment), proceed to ram one's fingers up one's friend's ass.
This custom is called Kanchou (kahn-choh). Six years in Japan were not nearly enough to convince me of its oft-touted humorous effects. That having been said, apparently enough people find it funny to warrant making a game out of it.
