Okay, quick guide to the cities listed on that site:
Adelaide: Famous for being one of the most quiet and dull places in Oz. It's really quite a large city, about a million and a half people, but it has no night life to speak of (except for a very nice casino). Still, very pleasant, lots of parks, but not a party town by any stretch of the imagination. For some odd reason, Adelaide and its surrounds harbour more serial killers than any other place in Australia.
Auckland: Not in Australia. Ignore.
Brisbane: Northerly, relatively warm, famous for its beaches. Once a year, at the end of high school classes, it (and nearby Surfers Paradise) fill up with literally thousands upon thousands of students on the school holiday (called Schoolies Week). Personally, I think Brisbane sucks, but I can't really explain why... I just don't like the place.
Hobart: Australia's little capital, down in Tasmania. I've never been there, but I know that it is very quiet, the kind of place where the shops close at 5pm and don't open at all on Sundays. It's also quite cold, and is the only Australian capital city which gets snow most winters. Tasmania itself is jammed full of gorgeous scenery, but Hobart is not a very happening place.
Melbourne: I have had mixed feelings about Melbourne for quite a few years. This wasn't always the case - when I first moved here in 1994, I fucking hated it. I now hate it and love it in almost equal measure. The weather is freakish and utterly unpredictable. The TV weather man might as well use a dowsing rod for a pointer. Even so, it has great culture (three international film festivals, a comedy festival, at least two major arts festivals, etc) and really good restaurants, cafes and bars. That said, it is an expensive fucker to live in, though far cheaper than Sydney.
This coming from a guy who lives in fucking Frankston...
Perth: Another place I have never visited, but I have several e-friends who live there, and friends and relatives who have visited. Basically, it is relatively cheap, has nice weather, a reasonable night-life, and is within driving distance of some absolutely amazing natural beauty. The main problem with Perth is that it is way the fuck over the other side of a very large country, and is about 3000km from its nearest neighbouring capital. Compare this to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane which are all less than a day apart by train (well, maybe not Brisbane - it's a bit further away). Here, have a look...

Sydney: Well... it's a great place, lots of fun, with a great night life. Then there are its flaws - high pollution, overcrowding, overloaded road system, and a ludicrously high cost of living. Then again, great beaches, close access to a lot of wonderful coastline, and the beautiful Great Dividing Range... I hate driving in Sydney, and the polluted air gives me a sore throat, but it is a great place to visit.
It depresses me to admit it, but Melbourne is probably the best of the lot to live in, but go to Sydney for holidays. :)
