I saw that "Attack of the Clones" today. It had a stupid title, some appalling dialogue and some quite dodgy acting. I loved it!

The Phantom Menace is one of my most hated films. It basically consisted of George Lucas pissing on my childhood from a great height. It was childish, had a stupid meandering plot, an annoying child, an even more annoying computerised Jamaican Fish-bloke, an the villain of the show had only about five minutes of screen time. It was just plain wrong.

Attack of the Clones, on the other hand, for some reason, just feels like proper Star Wars. And for that reason, despite its shortcomings, I cannot recommend it enough.

I also saw "Attack of the Clones" today, and I must disagree with my fellow Glasgwegian and say that it was quite below par. The plot was pretty weak and drawn out and it contained a lot of meaningless scenes and over the top computer graphics, sure, they looked good, but it was too much.

I'm not saying that they shouldn't use new technology, but it over shadowed the original Star Wars trilogy. How can it possibly be that star ships and buildings actually get slower and uglier in the "future"? There were some good points, and as a Star Wars fan I liked it by default, but I thought I'd get more for waiting 3 fucking years.

anyway, go see it, don't listen to me, I'm a cunt.

I think the kid was more annoying, I HATE him (yes go laugh at the irony) but come on, would the future Darth Vader, while trying to blow up the trade federation say "Let's try spining, that's a good trick" and then carry itout? NO!

Oh and Kajun, yes the technology does seem worse, I've not seen AOTC so can't say about that, but the Millenium Falcon was faster than the Queen's silky smooth ship, and the Falcon was a "Piece of junk" but "had it where it counts", also how did they go from Silver glasses to tupperware, 1 answer, the clone wars, apparently these were horibly nasty and destroyed materials, something I think will be mentioned in Ep. 3?

And is it just me, but looking at the pictures, Count Dooku looks something out of a panto?

I swear I'm not gonna say anything about this new movie cause I'm sick of all the star wars hype and debate...

At any rate I know have 152 mp3s and they rock. Crystal Method. Moby. Prodigy. Chemical Brothers. Infected Mushroom. Daft Punk. Who needs star wars!?

I saw the showtimes for "Attack of the Clones" today as I was walking past the theater on my way to work. Don't bother telling me how great it was. I will never see a Star Wars movie in my life. I'm dead set on this now that Jenny has said seeing "Spaceballs" makes up for it.

I saw Episode II this afternoon. I enjoyed it lots. I had some issues with the acting of Portman and Christensen, or maybe just the scripting of their whole love thing, but I might think the same about Fisher and Ford if I saw Empire Strikes Back for the first time today. But man did Episode II ever make up for it in insane Jedi action! Woo!

Several times at the end I was actually overwhelmed by the amount of action and wishing they'd all take five and just hang out on that cool rainy ocean planet for a while.

I'm probably going to go back again this weekend because I can barely remember anything that happened.

Not too sure about Christensen's acting, but I think we were supposed to dislike Anakin, as he is an arrogant power-crazed little shit. It's probably better this was than he's all sweetness and light and then inexplicably goes to the dark side later.

But my problem was why exactly N.Portman fell for him, when he spent the whole first half of the film giving off the air of a psychopathic stalker. She admitted at the start that he made her feel uncomfortable, but this was forgotten about five minutes later.

Most of the dialogue was laughable, but I came out of that cinema feeling happy, and that's what counts. Star Wars is good again - all is right with the world.

Laughable. The whole movie. When Obi followed Jango to Geonosis, I actually said out loud, "Look, it's Spaceball City!" Anakin and Amidala were both horrible in this movie (and I know that Natalie is capable of so much more), the writing was terrible, and I have never laughed harder as when Yoda flies through the air at Dooku. The only character I actually found myself feeling anything for was Jar Jar. Sure, he was annoying as hell in the first movie, but I felt bad that he was tricked into doing what he did in this movie.

Yes, this movie was much better than Episode I...I think everyone agrees with that. But the heart and soul of the original trilogy is still missing, and the result is just the constant barrage of digital images being packed onto the screen. Yes, the last 30 minutes or so of the movie is fast-paced and action-packed...but there's an hour and a half of shit to get through beforehand.

I know that I am of the minority opinion, especially amongst Star Wars fans, but that's what I get for expecting more out of an old fart who's so lost in his digital universe that he forgot to hand off the directoral reigns to someone who actually knows how to direct.

It basicly boils down to is that lucas can't direct for...

oops I'm doing it arn't I?

All I think is that he should get a real director in there for these movies.

I wasn't overly impressed.

The style of the movie stuck closely to the pattern of episodes 4-6. I don't recall Episode 1 sticking so closely to it. AOTC was definitely reminscent of classic Star Wars in that respect, but I haven't decided yet if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

I felt like I needed a shower every time Anakin went into another brooding, self-centered monologue to try to get Padme to love him. It made me physically ill that it was working. I mean, I realize that the story requires that she fall in love with him, I just wish he had been more charming, to justify it.

The pace DRAGGED until the last 45 minutes of the movie. The last 45 minutes kicked ass.

As an aside, I had a lot of fun in the line to GET tickets, because most of the people there were easygoing and cool and great to talk to. I had no fun at ALL in the line to get in on wednesday night. When we arrived on line, there were approximately 40-50 people ahead of us. When it was time to go in, there were over 250 people ahead of us. That is so not cool. It's okay to hold a place for one person on line, but not for 10 people. Besides which, they were rowdy, obnoxious litterbugs who did utterly stupid things for the news cameras. I was thoroughly embarassed to be associated in any way with them.

Did you read about the Odeon at the Springfield Quay? They showed the reels in the wrong order and the audience only saw half an hour of the film before cutting to the "dramatic conclusion", that doesn't sound that bad actually.

i had a very simple philosophy on the movie.

When it started , it was quite good.
The chase scene at the beginning is very good
then it meandered , became slow , plodding , and almost lost my interest
Then the jedi started fighting. At this point , it was what i would class "A good film".

Then Yoda got out his lightsabre. And i literally came in my pants , as the hyperactive little green chihuahua on speed provided what i reckon is one of the greatest moments in movie history.

And that made it a great movie. If you had cut out the other 2 hours , and given me that 20 seconds of Yoda using a lightsabre , and a Bruce Lee style combat pose , id still have happily paid my £5.50 to see it.

I think they need to include a cutscene during the credits of Yoda wielding his light sabre and shouting, "Super Groverrrrrrr!"
