What others say about boorite!

I quite like Pearls Before Swine. It's one of the few syndicated funnies I can stand. Too bad my local rag doesn't carry it (or Mutts, which can be mildly amusing at times). But hell, we get all of the crap like Mark Trail and Apartment 2B...

How can you like Mutts? Mutts is as bad as Rose Is Rose.

I don't get a paper -- the local paper here is crap -- but when I do read the comics the few I enjoy include Zits, Dilbert (less often these days), and a select few others I can't bring to mind.

I can't stand Cathy, BC, any of the "serious" comics, and most of the others out there.

I don't even know why I'm typing this instead of sleeping.

I'm with not_sycess, those strips suck. Zits and dilbert are good though... I also think Herb & Jammal has had a few good moments.

Now be fair. Not much is as bad as Rose Is Rose. (Except Family Circle Jerk... er, I mean Family Circus!)

But I like Mutts. It has a certain sort of melancholy sweetness to it that no other comic save for Charles Schultz's masterful Peanuts has been able to do. It's not amazing or anything, it's just amusing and sweet. Plus I like cats.

Boondocks and Dilbert used to be good, but Boondocks is just a running "ain't Bush dumb" gag nowadays and Dilbert has mostly worn out his welcome (although there's still the occasional good one).

I confess that I've been reading For Better or for Worse for over twenty years. It's the only strip since Gasoline Alley where the characters age. OK, I guess they age in Doonesbury, too.

For the record, I don't find Peanuts funny. Cute, yes, but it has never made me really laugh.

Mutts and Zits are the best comics still being printed.

The best newspaper strips ever were Liberty Meadows and Frumpy the Clown, and of course, both of their creators gave up on comic strips because they were being censored too often.

It doesn't sound like you have actually READ the old, classic Peanuts strips... They are quite good, and at the time they were first published, they were actually a radical departure from what was considered the norm in newspaper funnies.

Or... maybe you DID read them and just didn't like them. So I guess in that case I'm saying I liked them...
