Wrong.
Anyway, this idea is nice in theory and I don't suppose there's any harm in someone starting a competition in the RMDC thread for users with limited forum access, but giving the winner the gaurantee that they'll be given forum access is kinda pointless. The person running the competition is basically being given the over-all choice of granting permission, so you may as well let one of the "mods" run it, and even then they would just spot a user with potential and invite them without going through the drawn out proccess of a contest.
On the idea of everyone voting, you've seen how comic cups end up, I dunno, I have nothing against the idea of contests being held in the RMDC thread, but having them all fight over access is too elitist, even for my liking. Also, what if it's only newb-holes that enter? Some twat could get forum access by default, and the only person who deserves that is this one.
Your second idea of the current CC winner holding two contests is again a bit iffy, you're not only winning a contest, but you're winning the right to invite someone to the forums? If you make it an unchallenged decision, then it's going to get rediculous and pointless around here, if you have to run your decision by the mods before you name a winner, it'll be rediculous and pointless.
I think the inviting process is working fine at the moment, with some really great newbies being welcomed to the group, speedboat_lou, little_kitty, P_I_C and also the return of Doug.....
well, you get the idea.
