I don't think there's anything more deeply disturbing to some people than the fear of death. It's not that it's specifically death that is usually feared, but the uncertainity of what it entails.
To most people, death is an event in life that harbours a deep and oftentimes pithiful realisation of such feelings. It can change a person for better or for worse.
It can shock a person to their very core- make them believe in the existance of a deity or an afterlife, or sometimes cause the complete opposite. It can both depress and thrill with equal measure.
But of all things that the fear of death and the realisations that come with its presence that exist, the one thing that only truly matters is that you a worthless, spineless coward.
Oh... and the doctor said that your mother's dead.
