	Donkey Boy and the Search for East! aptly demonstrates the social conscience that pervades all of your work. Where does this come from?


	Definitely my father. Despite being a constantly haggard single parent of eight, he never failed to impart one of life's lessons when the opportunity presented itself.


	I remember this one time my brother broke a vase. My dad came dragging in, shoulders slumped, and asked who did it. The eight of us took off running.


	He grabbed me, so I yelled, "I didn't do nothing wrong!" He bent over, looked me dead in the eye, and said, "Son, it isn't about right and wrong. It's about fast and slow."
