I'm on a few ew-too based talkers, sort of gated communities on the net, and we have spod meets every so often. That is; a destination is picked, everybody makes arrangements, and meets for a day or two and hangs out.

They're called spod meets because ew-too ressies are called spods.

I think we should have a lowpass spod meet.

I also am convinced that it should be in Cleveland.

This is because gabe and I already live there, and I'm a lazy biatch.

When I lived in NYC, I went to plenty of #newyork and #nyc get togethers (not multiple day events). When I lived in Cleveland, I went to plenty of #fuck#cleveland get togethers (also not multiple day events). In the past 3 years of my involvement with rec.arts.bodyart, I've been to 3 rabcons (always multiple day events), 2 big january chicago munches (multiple day events), and several cleveland munches (my best friend and I hosted them - a misture of both multiple and single day events). In the past 3 (4?) years of my involvement with spinnwebe.com and #spinnwebe, I've been to 2 Pan Galactic Get ToGethers (multiple day events). I kind of regret that I never made it to a Binkapalooza when I was active on #truthdare several years ago, but I have also been to a smattering of other single and multiple day events for online schtuff.

I guess what I'm saying is that if this got carefully planned and enough people were interested in going, I'd be pretty likely to make it. I'd love to visit my best friend in Cleveland, and I'd love to drop in on my ex-landlady and intimidate her into giving me back the rest of my deposit. :)

I'd also be pretty keen on meeting stripcreator folks and being acerbic in person. :D

It would rock mightily if you could get it to coincide with the sci-fi movie marathon at Case Western Reserve University. I was thinking about trying to get there for that anyway, but I didn't think I could justify the travel expenditure to my boyfriend for it. I had so much fun when I went a couple of years ago. We could all bring sleeping bags and camp out in the lobby and spend some of the time hanging out at our sleeping bags doing the chatting thang, and some of the time in the auditorium, shouting Tom-Servo-esque responses at oldschool sci-fi movies.

The dates on the site are tentative, but if this idea takes shape, you can always contact the CRWU film society and tell them what you've got planned and see if they can give you immediate notice when a date's been locked in, and reserve whatever number of tickets we think we'll need.
