I spent a few weeks there doing a show a couple years ago. Brooklyn is where it's at. Lots of little bars and tasty beverages. Also, little Italy and Chinatown have great food. Also, if you're a theatre nerd like me, there's some kick ass puppet theatre there, including the Tiny Ninja theatre. Well worth checking out. New York is awesome.

Do you have mates there to hang out with? If not, I know some folks who might be helpful.

Ive been told that all you need is your credit card as that is the preferred method of payment. The crowd Im going with arnt taking any dollars with them, but Im staying on the safe side and am taking about $350.

I know the tipping system is different than over here i.e people in the U.K will leave you 5% gratuity even if you served them up the greatest steak dinner they ever had, whilst simultaenously saving there house's from burning down and orally pleasuring them...

so I was wondering if the tip is included on the bill or do you add that at your discretion. I've heard stories of people being tracked down Terminator2 stylee by waiters if they havent tipped enough so whats the norm? 10-20%?

The norm is 15 - 20% Except for drinks at the bar. The standard there is a dollar per drink and it's best to tip heavy on your first round to get the bartender on your side.

Tip's usually not on the bill, unless you're a table of 10 people or so. Typical in the US is 15%, going a bit higher for exceptional service. Similarly, tip your taxi driver.
