Are you just pissed that I'm not backing you up on every little post? Saddened by the loss of the only person on this page who would ever agree with you? Sorry man, but Bush isn't my candidate. He may have been four years ago, but I have changed in four years. I've seen Bush lying, taking advantage of a horrible situation, and sending people to die in a war that makes no sense to me any longer.

I still hate Kerry, and will not support him, but I sure as hell don't support Bush, even if Arnold is.

The rampant litigation of doctors and lack of meaningful tort reform is a serious thing, Kaufman. Do you really think two lawyers in the White House will fix that? The result of people like John Edwards is doctors, who have never been sued, being unable to afford malpractice insurance. That isn't a joke or cause for a funny unrelated quip.

Let's talk about unaffordable health care. Let's talk about protecting doctors who butcher patients -- protecting the patients from getting fair compensation. Let's talk about slimy insurance companies with their paws all over this. The fact is that any non-troll can see that there are no easy answers, but the Republicans' knee-jerk "fuck the victims and protect the corporations" attitude is inexcusable.

Why take the determination of fair compensation out of a jury's hands? Why give the insurance companies a free ride? Too much lining the pockets of Georgie and Dick and friends, perhaps?

They have a far better chance than a borderline dunce and a corporate shill will.

You're right, rising malpractice insurance rate do make health care costs go up as well. I didn't even bring that up.

Let's talk about ramplantly suing doctors and settling suits to avoid a drawn out legal battle. You know damn well I'm not talking about limiting people with serious griefs.

What about them would you like to bring up, specifically?

A lot of doctors aren't part of corporations, and, as you pointed out, health care costs go up with rising malpractice rates, hurting everyone. Corporate doctors are probabaly less likely to themselves have to bear the brunt of malpractice rates.

Of course you did. "Tort reform" is, along with "mandatory minimum sentences" code for let's handcuff the courts because we might not like what they decide. It's an abuse of separation of powers, where the legislative and the executive want to castrate the judicuial.
