Incidentaly, the bee was not intended to look "African". He was originally going to have a black (as in actually black) face, but it only took me a few seconds to see that his mouth would disappear if I did that. Hence the daek brown. Then, I still worried that the eyes and mouth would not stand out clearly enough, so did some highlighting around them, and...

And yeh. It IS Al Jolson with wings. Plus , i can now make all those jokes about dead black rap artists that i wanted by indicating this is them in heaven with wings.

I've previously not been keen on the idea of a specific character, because I like using Jon from Goats as my avatar. But a friend of mine came up with an idea: if I made a coloured version of Jon (perhaps holding a packet of digestives), could that be included as a forumusers character, or would it be an infringement of copyright?

Basically, I draw characters for those who stick around regularly for a few months. The population here is far too transient for me to draw a character for everyone who comes along and asks. You see, it actually takes a lot of creative energy to draw a character and make it look like a specific person, so much so that I can usually only do one, maybe two, in an evening. Non-user characters are much easier - I have been known to do ten or more in a single sitting without a problem.

Anyway, all this means is that I am not going to do a character for someone who has just arrived. Stick around, become part of our community, and in a couple of months, sure, you will get your character.

Oh, by the way Andy - nope, sorry, I only do originals. I don't like other people editing my art (I am very possessive) and as such I don't like to do the same to other artists. *shrug* Just a personal quirk, sorry. LadyJ's art was a special case - she asked me if I would colour her drawings before putting pen to paper, and that was the original plan. It was a collaboration, rather than a reworking.
