Perhaps, but in 1996, the summer after I graduated from high school, I did a one-shot show with a punk trio from Frakfort, Indiana (we played my NIN-style songs, and not particuarly well). Anyhoo, the band that closed that show was none other than the Ataris, about five or six years before they became semi-famous for covering Don Henley. Pwned!

As for the Spin Doctors, I wish people would stop mistitling songs I like. That one is "How Could You Want Him (When You Know You Could Have Me?)," and is really pretty. In fact, the Spin Doctors rule. I saw them at something called RibFest this past summer (it was free) and they sang some songs from a forthcoming album. Unlike most times a band does that, these songs were actually pretty outstanding.

In other news, God I wish it was 1993.

Very similar. Also, when I do it backwards it's golf-golf-golf.

As an aside, when Spider-Man does it, it sounds like thwip-thwip-thwip.

Sorry for the misquote menbah. For my money, that song could have been called "How could you want him, Christin McGhee, when I work at the framing store and I'm waaay cooler and stuff." For that reason, I'm glad it isn't 1993. Otherwise, there was some great music out then.

That's sappy to you? It's one of the most overtly cynical love songs ever written. God, you're sick. You sick bastard.

The best bad genre of music of all time. One of my biggest guilts is having a huge fondness for crappy 80s power ballads. There, I came out and said it.

And the sappiest song of all time is by far Spandau Ballet's "Gold".

You needn't fear being judged here, you tastless vulgarian.

Speaking of power ballads, what ever happened to that huge wet gated snare? Haven't heard it in a while.

I wonder if anyone even knows what I mean.
