Dammit, Fopp sold out of Superunknown, but have loads of copies of all the other albums. The same thing happened when I went in to get the Idlewild album when it was going cheap.

I heard a few months back that Chris Cornell was working with RAtM, but at the time it was nothing more than just a couple of tracks here and there. Is he seriously joining up fulltime?

According to a metal-head friend of mine, he will be their full time front man. Their former vocalist is not leaving the band, but wants to concentrate on writing rather than recording, so the story goes.

Nik Kershaw

The only good artist that Stock Aitken & Waterman ever fostered, and one of the better male pop singers of the eighties.

They Might Be Giants - Flood
Billy Joel - River of Dreams.

I would take Apollo 18 or Factory Showroom over Flood - I think I have overdosed on that album. River of Dreams is my least favourite Billy album, too. I far prefer The Nylon Curtain, The Bridge, or 52nd Street. That said, No Man's Land, Shades of Gray, River of Dreams, and Lullabye are all classic tracks.

Now that names I listen to are coming up I would like to add that I've dug Klatuu back out of the dust and have been listening to them a bit. They are sort of a post-Beatles studio band with a mission to meet friendly aliens and drop a lot of acid. "Amos from Uranis" is a rocker.

Steely Dan still sends me.

Yes, I have a diverse music taste. Considering most of it is Radiohead.

ON a desert Island , youd be dead of a self inflicted gunshot wound after listening to just 1 Radiohead album , let alone 4.

TBH , when i think on it , the only Billy Joel album ive heard that i rate with River of Dreams is the quite excellent "Storm Front".

The Downeaster Alexa is a song ive always found incredibly powerful.

Yeah, I liked Downeaster Alexa, and I liked Leningrad. I wish either of those were available in karaoke discs. Many many of his other songs are, and I find them to be very comfortable to sing, range-wise.

Bunner, he did Goodnight Saigon when I saw him on the River of Dreams tour, and I think there were ten thousand pairs of weeping eyes in that stadium. The chorus (..."and we would all go down together...")was sung by a bunch of roadies, high up in the light scaffolding, arms around each other and swaying, and the light show for that one song was one of the most beautifully simple I have ever seen.

Oh, I adore Downeaster Alexa and Leningrad, two of my favourite singing-in-the-car-while-driving-interstate songs.

Isn't that the whole point. I wouldn't want to be there in the first place.

Plus, I'd probably kill myself listening to In Utero over and over and over again. It just seems like that kinad album.

My old car didn't have a radio. I also have a tendency to get road hypnosis and drift off behind the wheel a bit if I've been driving by myself for a while. When I drove from NYC to Cleveland with all my shit in my teeny geo and my bike precariously strapped to the back, I sang every song I could think of at the top of my lungs at the inside of my car to keep myself awake. I found out then that there are truly very few songs I know by heart in their entirety.

Or you just learn one very long song. If you pad the drum solo some, add a bit of jamming, and drive at a reasonable speed, you ought to be able to pull off NYC-Cle in just 25 Inagaddadavidas.

Wasnt Sharon Stone , it was Kim Basinger.

And Yeh , that album has pretty much every good song they ever did on it.

Listen Like Thieves
I feel Better than James Brown
Papa was a Rolling Stone
How the Heart Behaves (Excellent song).
Shake your Head.
Spy in the House of Love.

I picked it up for £4.99 in HMV. \o/

A cover of the INXS hit, I assume.

Oh, I remember that one. I always assumed it was recorded by a one-hit wonder.

Dunno which was released first , but id wager youre probably right and its a cover of the original INXS song.

And "Walk the Dinosaur" was simply an updated version of George Clintons classic original.

Oh , and over here , "Shake your Head" did better than Walk the Dinosaur (no.3 and no.6 in the charts respectively).

I would just like to mention that Harry Chapin's original "Cat's in the Cradle" is currently playing on my radio.

Ugly Kid Joe did a great cover, but those beautiful, swelling strings were conspicuous in their absence.
