I wasn't going to make a post about this but I've already had 2 PMs on the subject so I thought I'd throw it open to the forum.

Yesterday it was announced on their official website that the headline set at Glastonbury on June 27th will be Orbital's last ever performance.

This is the end of an era for me and a sign that if it wasn't gone before, rave culture has truly met its end, and I am no longer a youth.

I imagine the guys will go on to work on solo projects however, and there's still the little matter of the 2nd last concert at Brixton Academy on the 25th June...

With that I throw the floor open to fans of the group, people who never heard of the group, people who want to talk about some other band's last hurrahs, or how they felt when The Beatles/Deep Purple/NKOTB/Backstreet Boys/ split up.

Why is Buckethead out of GNR? I mean, besides the fact that it doesn't seem like Buckethead can be tied down to any one thing.

I am actually pretty upset that Orbital won't be around anymore.

I felt similarly when Soundgarden broke up, when Alice in Chains broke up, and especially when Zach De La Rocha left Rage Against the Machine.

That's just the thing, Jes. I LIKED Zack's ranting. I used to love Soundgarden, but next to Tom Morello's wicked electric, Chris Cornell sounds like a whiny poof. As for Zack, I've got not a clue what he's up to.

I have an Orbital set from Radio 1's Breezeblock that I listen to quite a bit, particularly at work. While I really enjoy it, I haven't really gotten into other Orbital work--I should probably correct that.

Thanks Drex, uh, this wasn't exactly what I had in mind but I'm happy enough with this here anyway, I don't see any point in swapping it back to GD. At least now I know what can and can't be done by the moderators now.

Yes - that set on Radio 1 was about 80% of a "Back To Mine" compilation they released. It was more of a mix tape concept than a showcase form their own stuff. Choad - I highly recommend the "Brown" album from 1993.
