Well, I just saw A Perfect Circle live in New Jersey saturday night. It was an amazing, amazing show. They played all of the songs on the new Thirteenth Step album, and Maynard held the note on the second consecutive 'over this' in The Oustider for almost a minute. Anyone who likes Perfect Circle would have been blown away.

I was beginning to like you, Mikey. Then you had to go and mention APC.

My sister plays APC all day, every day. And then when I leave the house to get away from it, my dumbass friends are playing the same thing. I have grown the hate APC and that whole genre (whatever the hell it is) just from the way these people I know act. One time I was with a friend who is convinced she is one day going to marry Maynard, and we were guessing what football teams people would support/go for/claim allegiance to but not care about/whatever. When we asked the people, I was getting more right than her, and I excalimed that I am a genius. She disagreed and I asked her who was a genius, she replied "Albert Einstein". But that dude's dead, so he couldn't have been too smart, so I asked her who a living genius was. Her reply, "Maynard". That's bullshit. All the guy does is write and sing, it's not like he's the first to do that. And his lyrics could have been written by any goth kid, they're not exactly original. His delivery isn't anything new either. Therefore, Maynard is not a genius, and people who think he is, is one of the reasons why I now hate APC. The other guys I don't care about, which is alright, because most APC fans I know don't even know their names. For all I know, APC is great, but my judgement has been skewed by idiocy.

Well, dcom, what you are referring to is seemingly adolescent obsessive idiocy. I never referred to Maynard as a genius, and I haven't got some sort of girlish obsession with him either. I like APC a lot, and I haven't been exposed to overkill like you have. I generally have a problem with overzealous people in general, whether they like APC or whoever. Not knowing why you like something but liking it anyway is almost as stupid as hating something without knowing why.

Your opinion may or may not be skewed by idiocy, because APC just might be music that doesn't speak to you and you may not have liked it had you experienced it completely on your own. I saw the show, and there were a lot of fucking idiots there, half of which I prayed would take a fucking dive off the railing onto the cement. Either way, it can't possibly reflect on me how other people view music that I like.
