I'm sensing a cult classic theme here.

I too love many of those movies, so here's my list in no specific order:

1. Matrix
2. Fight Club
3. Altered States
4. Clockwork Orange
5. Apocalypse Now
6. They Live!
7. Cradle of Fear
8. History of the World Part I
9. The Holy Grail
10. Star Wars (original Trilogy)

Very honorable mentions: LOTR Trilogy, some Star Trek movies, and 2001.

Umm, in no significant order -

1)JA\/\/S
2)City Lights (Charles Chaplin)
3)The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
4)AL()ENS
5)Hudsucker Proxy
6)Spaceballs & Airplane.
7)Pirates of the Carribean
8)Pulp-Fiction
9)Blade Runner
10)Cool Runnings

If I was to really think about it that 10 would change drastically, maybe Wonderful Life would make it in there. I watched Soylent Green for the very first time about a week ago believe it or not. Even though I knew the ending I thought it was the funniest movie I have seen in a long time. I loved the way Heston would saunter into peoples houses and just start filling up a bag with their shit. That's the kind of cop I would be.

I KNEW I forgot something!

Willy Wonka takes the place of Full Metal Jacket or Apocalypse Now. Either one, it doesn't matter, as long as Willy Wonka is there. One of the best movies EVER made.

This just goes to show you I need to put a lot more thought into my lists.

Way of the Gun was fucking awesome. No one saw it, it did shitty in the theaters, but it was a kick-ass movie.

Benicio Del Toro should have won the Oscar for THIS movie. If nothing else, watch it for the opening scene with Sarah Silverman. It's amazing.

Those are great choices that I left off. Thanks for reminding me. I also want to add the Grave of the Fireflies, from the same company that made Spirited Away and, yes, My Neighbor Totoro. It's an animated world war II movie.

Fucking Fuck! How could I forget this film! It takes the #1 spot on my list and Evil Dead, although kickass, gets kicked off.

PS: MikeyG, I begged everyone in my family to take me to see Way of the Gun. I finally got to see it and my mom almost walked out of the theater about 1 minute into the Sara Silverman scene, which I feel is classic. I didn't care, I loved it. I bought the movie when it came out, too. It kicks ass. On another note, my mother did walk out of Kill Bill Vol. 1. Funny enough, my Grandma loved it. That just goes to show you that old people are cool.

You guys forgot the porn classic "One Fell into the Poo Poo's Nest".

Anyway, most of the movies Kajun listed are kick-ass. He's right about the not being able to pick 10.

Willy Wonka
Way of the Gun
Reservoir Dogs
True Romance
Roadracers (the only good thing David Arquette ever did)
Kill Bill
Usual Suspects
Fight Club
Seven
The Game
Mystic River (so disturbing I nearly walked out, but not out of disgust. See it.)
Something About Mary
Marathon Man
IT
Memento
Akira
Ninja Scroll
Fist of the North Star
Sister, My Sister
the Matrix
Breakfast Club
Better Off Dead
One Crazy Summer

Hell, even Grosse Point Blank was a really good movie. Caddyshack? There are tons.

Uh... really? I liked it but I didn't find it particularly disturbing or unnerving. You don't actually find Requiem to be disturbing... or do you look at it as comedy relief, as I do?

Now I find Se7en to be really disturbing, as I do Grave of the Fireflies, Eraserhead(another favorite), and on occaison Hearts and Minds.

Requiem I didn't find disturbing because I've seen a few friends go through that shit. But they all wound up like Wayans' and Connelly's characters. No one I know has ever lost an arm to I.V. drug use.

Mystic River was just disturbing. I guess I'm the kind of person that always hopes the dude who got shit on all his life and went through some harsh shit at the hands of others will finally get some peace.
