I keep seeing people in the forums (mostly newbies) That post their comics like this:

is there a reason for that?

They're adding tags they don't have to.

It only occurs (or "happens") when somebody does it.

I understand that what they are doing, but I don't understand why the idea that you have to use these tags became such a wide-spread idea among newbies.

Blame the advent of the ikonboard, and other forums of its like that have replaced HTML with their own forum tags.

I was dumbfounded the first time I heard someone on an HTML based forum ask why bracket-tags didn't work "like on a normal forum."

As for why they try using the URL tags... well... they're lost and confused, you see. It would be so much easier on these newbies if only there were a link or something next to the text box that says "Click here for help including comics and pictures in your post" that would tell them how to post comics and pictures in their posts. Alas... woe to the newbs.
