This is ridiculous.
Clearly the parents are not at fault. After all, they only bought the PC, paid for the internet connection, paid for the game, paid for the subscription, allowed him enough free time to access it and were powerless to talk to the boy while he spent countless hours playing games.

Personally I think it's the kid's own fault. I don't buy into this "he was only a child" bullshit. Being young doesn't magically absolve you from your own personal responsibility.

Anything that rids the world of some teenagers is a-okay with me.

I made this in honor of the occaision of this guys death.

That reminds me of this series of comic strips a friend of mine found. I'll have to dig up the link, but they're about how D&D is evil and causes kids to become Satanists. The one it reminds me of was about a girl committing suicide because her character died.

The errors we argued were A) the D&D players portrayed were all girls (sorry, those of us who play WISH that scenario were true), and B) Considering how easily a character could be brought back to life or how easily a new character could be created, anyone who would kill themselves over character death is insane to begin with.

Then we realized what big nerds we were and, following an embarassed silence, changed the subject.

Does anyone remember when some parents let their kid watch Beavis and Butthead and the kid killed himself and a friend by setting a couch on fire? :) It was so totally the creator of the series fault. I mean really, what is with them, making something that could babysit a kid on behalf of neglectful, innatentive parents who want to do nothing but give their kids crap so they can get along in their own self-absorbed lives?!!

And its the same in this case with WoW and Blizzard. Every coder in the entire corporation should be crucified on behalf of that spoiled child and his parents who bought the game for him.

Chick Tracts are hilarious, but I get depressed if I read too many in one sitting.

There's a fantastic indy bookshop here in Melbourne called Polyester Books that sells drug references, leftist political tomes, queer culture books, sex manuals, and just about every other kind of countercultural literature you could think of. They sell Chick Tracts for a buck each.
