I'll start work on a playlist when I get home tonight. I've got a pretty eclectic collection, so if there's anything people don't want, let me know and I'll try and avoid such things for your cd.

I've been expecting Swap 9 for awhile now so I've been hard at work on mine. It's almost done and I'll mail it out once the rest of you get done with yours.

I'm trying desperately to think of a good playlist. This is what I get for having used all my good material already. Other ideas I have are kind of lame. I will have to meditate on this. And by "meditate," I mean go take a shower.

A couple of the songs on these CDs do not have the artist listed, and this is because I don'thave the info. They're either ripped form someone else's burned CD or I no longer have the ablum information and can only remember the title of the song.

It just occurred to me that if you put the CDs in the mail this weekend, I should check my mail box. I miss the old days of pulling on a robe and peeking out the front door to get the mail. These days I have to get dressed and walk a few blocks. It really cuts down on my desire to check the mail every day, especially when it's probably empty.

Next two days will be hell as we do the finishing touches on cleaning up the old house we're moving out of, so I'll try to start thinking about swap stuff. And a job.

I didn't get around to doing them last weekend. I got caught up in cleaning the house and forgot until after the post office closed saturday. I have to make a run to the bank this Saturday, so I'll leave myself a note to take the CDs to the post office on the way. If for some reason I forget I'll leave a note for My fiancee to do it while I'm at my annual training; she's not as forgetful as me.

I got around to addressing envelopes, making the CD's, and printing the explanations today. All that's left for me to do is write some notes and maybe make a CD cover. I'll be sending them out tomorrow so you should all get them by the weekend.

I was in a hurry to get the cd's out, so no covers or anything.  Just a playlist.  But I did come up with some clever names for each of your cds.

I got HC's in the mail today. Plan on listening to it tomorrow night seeing as I'm booked solid until then. All I know is that when I looked at it I saw Flogging Molly so I'm sure it'll kick ass.

Attention, Fellow CD Swapians:

Sorry I haven't checked in before now.  I'm a busy little ne'er-do-well hotel heiress I am.  I've received disks from H.C. Royall and Big Frank 105.  Thanks, guys!  I'm compiling a list of palatable tunes and hope to mail stuff soon.  :D

Well, knowing there's people in this swap who like Flogging Molly makes me happy. That means there's a good chance my mix will go over well. I got HC's and BigFrank's in the mail today (as in I checked the mail for the first time in a week). You guys are the first mail we've gotten at the new address. Hooray for new mail not being bills!

I just got back from my AT to find BigFrank's cd waiting for me. I just popped it in the computer and it's playing now. I'm pretty sure I'll like this mix; I mean, anything that starts off with Queen can't be ALL bad.

With the exception of perhaps two to three songs, I was quite pleased with Frank's mix. I won't say the two to three songs were bad, just that they weren't my particular cup of tea. The thers were right on the money, however, and I am very anxious to see what other golden goodies come my way.

It's been this long and I finally realized that I never received Ivy and Twi's CDs. The postal system in this county hates me, so it's not that surprising; I've gotten three bills in the past two months that each got here a week after they were due and the past two rent checks I mailed got kicked back to me with an "address does not exist" message even though my landlord hasn't moved and I've been sending the checks there for the past six months.

Let me know if they get kicked back to you guys. If they've just disappeared into nothing, it's no big deal, though I can give an alternate address if you want to try again.

I haven't finished making them yet. I have the playlist all ready, but haven't burned them. I guess it would help if I unpacked whichever box has the blank CDs in it, huh.

I've been trying to listen to you and Frank's CD's at work, but always the day I intend to play them is the day that everyone uses my office as their own personal gossip station/office supply store.

I'll try to finish them this weekend. I have a lot of boxes to finish unpacking anyway so I might just find those blank CDs.

Listened to your CDs today. Loved them both. Although my coworkers weren't too thrilled about the "weird stuff" I was listening too. I guess when one considers AC/DC and Top 40 the ultimate in music selection, anything else is weird in comparison.

Heathens. See if I let them steal all my sharpies anymore.

Hooray! My mixes have won much needed "respeck" from Ivy and HC. Sorry that I haven't been on at all in the past few weeks, I recently moved into my temporary apartment here at college. Apparently temporary means that there is no internet connection either, so I'm lucky if I can hike my way to the library a few times a week. As for HC's CD, the half that I listened to (I friggin' left it at home, but I'm going back in a few days) was pretty damn good, I must say. I'll give it a better review once I actually finish listening to the rest of it.

Well, I will be the first to put up an in-depth review of one of Frank's mixes.  As I said before, only a couple songs didn't appeal to me, but they were still good for background music between good songs.

  1. Queen- "Who Wants To Live Forever"  I've always been a big fan of Queen.  I remember hearing Bohemian Rhapsody while watching the first Wayne's World movie, asking about the song, and then listening to every song I could find by Queen afterwards.  This is a song I hadn't heard before, and I fell in love with it.  It's a lot slower and loftier than their other songs, but Freddie Mercury rocks the **** out of the vocals in it.
  2. Ben Kweller- "Penny on the Train Track"  I had to listen to this one a couple times before it really got me.  Each time I caught a little more of the lyrics and that's what really got me.  The music is cool, but this is one of those songs where the lyrics combined with the music really make it good.  Cut one out and all you have is something so-so.  I like songs like that because it takes talent in my opinion to create two elements that compliment each other so well.
  3. Mama Cass Elliot- "Make Your Own Kind of Music"  I'll admit, I was skeptical about this one.  I grew up listening to music from that era, but the light, folksy stuff never really grew on me.  (I grit my teeth every time "Me and Bobby McGhee" comes on the radio...)  But I gave this one a chance and it was pretty good.  It's not something I think I would want to hear on a regular basis, but it's a fun song and it's probably going to go on my playlist of songs for when I'm in a bad mood, because it really picks you up.
  4. Catch 22- "Kristina She Don't Know I Exist"  This was one of the 'meh' songs.  It had a nice beat and a catchy tune, but it was too repetitive.  With repetitious songs they have to be just right or they start to bug me after about a minute.
  5. Harvey Danger- "Happiness Writes White"  This song was interesting, to say the least.  Every time I listen to it, I can't remember how it goes afterwards but I remember that I really liked it.  That being said, I can't really say why I like it, but I do.
  6. Linkin Park- "Hands Held High"  I really wish they'd play this on the radio instead of that stupid "Bleed Out" song.  This one is better written, incredibly deep, and more than worth the time it takes to listen to it all the way through.  The lyrics really spoke to me, which is something I have to hand to Linkin Park because before I just liked them because I thought their music had a good sound.
  7. Scissor Sisters- "Kiss You Off" Yes, Frank, it does sound like a gay disco revival, but as someone who has the soundtracks to Rent and The Phantom of the Opera (movie and stage production) on his computer, a gay disco song fits in just fine.  I like it.  I think it's a great song.  The name sounds like something a punk or emo band would have, but the sound is much better than any emo butt-rock could ever be.
  8. Big D & The Kids Table- "Voice Alone"  You went out on a limb, but you made the grade with this song.  I love most ska I listen to, and this is no exception.  My dad turned me on to ska with a cd by Fighting Gravity (then called Boy O Boy, but they changed their name when they signed a deal because there was already a band with that name on a label), and this kind of reminds me of them.  It was similar enough to what I like to make me want to hear more, but different enough to keep me interested once I got into it.
  9. The Offspring- "Dirty Magic"  I like anything and everything I've ever heard by the Offspring.  'Nuff said.
  10. Potshot- "Time"  This was a weird song, but a good weird.  A lot of Japanese music imported here is crazy techno crap that gets boring after the first thirty seconds, but this was a nice surprise.
  11. Bad Religion- "Epiphany"  I also like everything and anything I've ever heard by Bad Religion.  This is no exception.
  12. Gogol Bordello- "Not A Crime"  I can't say I didn't dislike this song, but I didn't dislike it entirely.  It had a good beat, I liked the music, but the same lyrics repeated over and over got on my nerves after a while.  I would like it a lot better with the vocals removed.
  13. Metallica- "Fade to Black"  I can't say I've been a fan of Metallica for very long, but I will say that I at least liked St. Anger.  I can't fault them for wanting to do something different, and I think it was pretty good.  However, their old stuff, like this song, does have more of the hardcore kick and I think that's what really made a lot of fans lose heart with St. Anger.
  14. Protest the Hero- "Turn Soonest To The Sea"  Yes, BF, I want a copy of the album.  I love the complex ballads that are so prevalent in classic rock but so hard to find in music these days, and to know there's a band that can write and play like that nowadays is great news.
  15. Rhapsody of Fire- "Heart of the Darklands"  This song is being added to my "Game Night" playlist.  It's got the mood for the background music of a D&D game, especially for any sort of high tension setting.  It'll probably also be added to the music I listen to while I'm writing my stories to help me get into the scene.
  16. DragonForce- "Through the Fire and Flames"  I had heard of DragonForce before, but had never heard any of their songs until now.  Like Rhapsody of Fire, they are going on my D&D and writing lists.  I was listening to it on the way home from work today, and I kept thinking of the episode of Metalocalypse where Swissgard was doing a music video sequence and battling dragons with his guitar.  Except that in my mind he was playing DragonForce instead of his DethKlok riffs.
