the olympics mean about as much to me as the Polack races we hold here in the sewers, but it just seems silly to say that the americans aren't really winning in total medal count, when what you're really arguing is that the chinese olympic showing is stronger than the americans because of their large lead in gold medals. something most people would probably agree with, especially those that think you still lose your baby teeth at 16

China has won 46 events. USA has won 29. USA has more medals but coming third is not as good as coming first. The proper way to order the medal tally is by gold, not be total. I didn't mean USA weren't winning in total medal count, I meant the table was sorted the wrong way to put America first instead of second.

dcomposedthe "proper way" is completely user specific though. i think if i want to know anything from the olympics, expect for when the fuck is it going to be over so Conan can come back on, it's probably the total medal count. i think i'd actually be a little annoyed if it was sorted just by gold because then they're forcing arithmetic into my day, and who needs that

and i think you overestimate how much most people here care about the olympics. maybe a little for the sports we actually give a shit about like basketball, but most of them are weird ass events like curling or skiing while shooting rifles or postmen jumping sandcastles while being shot at by skiers
