I think it'd be cool if we had a "no tail" option for speech balloons, as opposed to "thought" and "speech".  This could be used for disembodied voices, additional narration, or simply "floating" speech.  I got the idea from a recent comic I did that takes place in a chat room:

My perfect vision for this comic would have the speech balloons with no tails, since the characters are actually "typing" instead of "talking".

I think that's a great idea,

along with a "zappy lookin tail thingy" for television speech bubbles and sound effects. Or maybe even different speech bubble styles, like a cloudy one, or a zappy speech bubble.
