I went to a taping of WWF Smackdown! last night and it was way more fun than fake fighting really has any right to be. The show is going to be on TV Thursday. You can't miss me in the crowd. I'm the white 15 to 30 year old male.

Last year I went to a WCW house show a couple weeks before the McMahons got their grubby little hands on it, so I know it's a lot more fun in person. Course, it would have to be a million times better to go to Smackdown than WCW.

For that, I hate you.

I remember once, when I went to Royal Albert Hall to watch it (about 7 years ago). Bret Hart was against someone to keep his championship belt, and of course he did.

The tag team belts changed hands to the Bush Whackers, before they lost it in anouter British thingy (the beverly brothers I think)

Those were the days,Earthquake, Bam Bam Bigalow, Big Boss Man, Mr. Perfect, Randy Savage, Repo Man and of course Doink the Clown, and now it's changed for the worse, The Rock, yet he isn't a rock, Stone Cold yet he isn't cold blooded, the Undertaker has changed for the worse. And since when did HHH decide to not be the posh bastard he once was?

Mr. Perfect was there last night. He lost to Rob Van Dam.

Personally, I grew out of wrestling 10 years ago. Then they made it all funny and clever and silly and over-the-top, so now I get to like it again.

Mr Perfect has always fucking rocked.

Bazilla, you talk about the good old days, yet sum up the worst "characters" that were around at that time. The Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, The Undertaker, L.O.D., Shawn Michaels, Superfly Jimmy Snuka, The British Bulldog etc... THEY were what made it good, not fat guys, clowns and guys who dressed up as police men.

I always enjoyed how "Rowdy" Roddy Piper was so unbelievable Canadian, yet still claimed to be from Glasgow.

No, I liked all the fat ones, Typhoon as well. And did Bret ever fight Hulk, I think they always avoided that, for example once Yokozuna beat Vret for the title and 30 seconds later Hulk beat Yokozuna to win the title to avoid them fighting against each other.

Heh heh heh.

I was a WWF fan since about '93... but then I stopped watching when the Undertaker became the Underbiker... 'twas a sad sad day.

I miss Gangrel back when he debuted too... not because of the vampy gimic, but because he had the absolute best entrance of any wrestler I've ever seen. Good entrances meant a lot to me.

They haven't been giving him much time lately. He flips his towel around and he spits his gum out and then swats it out of the ring with his hand though. Which I believe is all anyone really needs to be considered perfect.

The crowd also chanted "Perfect Plex" for his finisher, but he never got to use it.

Uranium Fission
1938
Otto Hahan and Fritz Strassmann's discovery of fission steered Germany toward developing an atomic weapon. This motivated the U.S. to launch the Manhattan Project.
The Race for the Atomic Bomb Begins
1939-1941
World War II started September 1, 1939, when Germany attacked Poland. By 1941, the Germans were leading the race for the atomic bomb. They had a heavy-water plant, high-grade uranium compounds, a nearly complete cyclotron, capable scientists and engineers, and the greatest chemical engineering industry in the world.
The Research Effort Struggles
1941-1945
Factors including internal struggles, a major scientific error, and the devastation of total war compromised any successful research toward a German atom bomb. Unlike the American program, the Germans never had a clear mission under continuously unified leadership.
The First Controlled Nuclear Reaction
1942
At the University of Chicago reactor, Enrico Fermi oversaw the first controlled energy release from the nucleus of the atom.
U-235 Output Begins
1945
After intense effort, the Y-12 plant in Oak Ridge, Tenn., began to produce bomb-grade U-235, which was shipped to Los Alamos, N.M. U-235 was used in the Little Boy bomb and plutonium was used in the Fat Man bomb produced at Los Alamos.

No, the fat guys and clowns also rocked. I always look forward to times when we get things like the teams Phatu Cool or Headcheese or the Rock & Sock Connection... or Al Snow's should-be-legendary reign as European champ. (Oh yeah, I'm extremely disappointed that Al's gone sane. Sigh...)

By the way, I haven't gotten to see any of Wood Hogan's matches since he returned. Has he regained any wrestling skills? Last time I saw him work, he had about as much skill as Kevin Nash. The joke with the fans was "We're not booing because we hate him, we're booing the fact that he exists."

Hogan's never been a great wrestler, he's always been about personality and hulking up and stuff. Last night he hulked up a bit, did the leg drop, etc. Nothing really fantastic. Although he did then take a chair to the head and bled all over the place. I wouldn't be doing that shit if I was an almost fifty year old rich icon.

I used to crash at a place called the pad by its small town inhabitants - southern Illinois USA - the north only by location. Think inbreeding, illiteracy and good-hearted people with closed minds.

So a guy named Muskrat used to sell good weed and let me sleep on the couch back in the late 70s. We used to watch a LOT of wrestling. I enjoyed Pipers Pit.

The only hard part about sleeping there was when Muskrat would bring back a maybe legal cheerleader, dose her up and play box spring boogey until 4AM. The noise wasn't kind when you're sleeping on a smelly couch.

But then he'd walk her home, come back, get me high and make breakfast. I always think of breakfast with Muskrat when I think of the WWF.
