Well... I was sleep-deprived and half unconscious while driving the first hour of my six-hour road trip, when for no apparent reason the irony of dresses occurred to me -- why to women, who DON'T need extra room in that area, get to wear dresses, when men, who (presumably) do need extra space, are forced to wear restrictive pants?

Of course, by the time I turned it into a comic it all degenerated into making fun of Scottish people. (Not that I know the first damned thing about Scottish people.) But I'm still sleep deprived enough not only to make them, but also to post them publicly. Enjoy.

I'm an idiot because I find it upsetting when people stereotype and mock my country constantly? I'm sorry if I over reacted to the situation, I really don't want people to dislike me, I just got a bit wound up and I did over use bad language, I don't really think this guy is a cunt, I'm sure he has some reasonable explanation for writing 8 racist comics directed towards Scottish people, I'd be glad if he/she could post it along with an apology of some kind in a mature fashion. I took such offence to the comics because I have, and I know people who have, been threatened or physically attacked (thankfully I'm just the former) because of their race. I don't find racism, humourous or not, to be a laughing matter, but I can excuse the odd joke or two. Of course I'm going to get flamed the Hell off this board for getting offended by the comics, just as I'm sure every other forgotten person who had a different opinion to you did.

May I appluad you on your argument. There were some extremely strong points made and great use of wit and humour while still managing not to distract from the main point of the argument. Well done.

Do you know how many Glaswegians we have here on this site? Last count, I think it was six regulars. That guy in the kilt is a character I drew for one of them. None of these guys ever objected to a bit of good-natured joking around, just as I, an AUstralian, never objected to well-meaning jokes about how I fuck kangaroos and the Americans on the site don't get all uptight about suggestions that they are all gun-toting maniacs who can't spell. The comics above poke some fun at the Scots, sure, but if you had bothered to read them properly you would have noticed that there is no malice and no real racism in them. They make fun of how the rest of the world perceives Scotland as much as the Scottish themselves. Yes, the Scottish national dress for men features what is essentially a skirt. Yes, a traditional Scottish activity is the caber-toss, which basically involved throwing a log as far as you can. Oh, the Scottish accent is impenetrable to many and, frankly, sounds a bit funny (as do most of the world's accents to an outsider).

You have charged in here from the outside, into a community of people who have been chatting in this forum for as long as eighteen months. There is a group dynamic here that you don't understand. If the comics above had indicated any true racist malice, we would not have tolerated them. Racist trolls have come and gone from this site. If you honestly think the comics above are racist, then I honestly think you are an oversensitive wanker, and you really need to relax a bit.

If you don't like it, well... too bad. Go find another online community where the iron fist of political correctness reigns supreme, because it certainly doesn't here.

So because other people who could take offence to them don't, I'm not allowed to???? Well, as a newcomer to this site I was not familiar with all the different quirks on this board. When you come onto a board and the first thing you see is a bunch of racist comics with everybody laughing at them, it is a little worrying and offending, to say the least.

It wasn't so much the content of the comics that offended me, it was the title. It really did seem quite malicious. Yes, I did read the comics, and if they didn't have such a racist title I would have known they were a joke, but with that title it makes them twice as offending.

But they did have racist malice!! Saying Fuck The Scottish is racist, whether you like it or not! You might choose to be in denial about the whole thing, but it IS racist. Charged in??? I posted one topic about my comics, admittidly crap, got shrugged off as another dickhead newbie with no respect at all (and also effectively got told to die in the process, something which I, as a suicidal depressive since 5 found pretty upsetting), saw a topic directing racism towards my country and got offended, posted a reply and yet again got shrugged off as another dickhead newbie and got the usual patronising 3 sentence reply that I've seen so many people use (or similiar altered ones) so many times on other message boards. I recommend you have a look at your community as it's almost impossibles for newbies to break into your circle of friends and quirks and maybe try to be more open and respect other people's opinions.

I'm begining to suspect you didn't even read my last post, I said I over-reacted and I am sorry for doing that, I am a little bit touchy to the subject, as I said, because racsm is not unfamiliar to me. I don't think the comics are racist, I think the writer wrote them not realising that they could be offensive, but to be honest the titles really do make me doubt that. Yes I am over-sensitive, extremely, it's not something I like about myself, I'm sorry.

No, I'm not going to let one or two incidents affect my views of this place (but I'll probably have forgotton about this site by tomorrow :D), I'm sure you're all very nice people and I hope this has been just one big msunderstanding and the 'fuck the scottish' titles were just a joke that the writer didn't really think about and realise they were actualy racist.
