Although, since this thread has started, can I ask others what they think of the "NIGGERIFIC" picture that Kaenash posts all the time? Personally I think it's very irritating and I'm always tempted to delete the post, but then I don't want to get drawn into a huge racism debate.

I'm all for comedic racism if it's done with a hint of irony and I guess it's not any more offensive to Black people as the "YOU'RE A HOMO" picture is to gay people, or any number of Asian girl comics is to an entire continent. I think the problem I have with it is that there seems to be absolutely no connection between the picture and the thread.

Maybe I'm the only person who has a problem with this, but it just seems strange that we now have an obscenity filter yet no way to stop people from having to see this nonsense in the most innocent of threads.

I TRIED to set a prescedent that would get people to post "EXPLICIT" or something of that nature in threads they were intending to post explicit material in. As for the links, don't blind link people, especially not on Stripcreator. That's fucked up. I'm not at all for censorship, but at the same time I fully support Brad's right to do it in any case he deems worthy. This is not a democracy and you won't get your way by crying about censorship.

first of all, Brad can do whatever he wants. it's his site. he can ban you for having vowels in your name or because he doesn't like the cut of your jib. so that's not really up for debate and people who use that to make their point are circumventing the issue since i doubt they'd be so willing to use the argument if they were banned for an arbitrary reason they didn't like

that said, i think it sucks that one person can complain and ruin it for the rest of us. and where's the line drawn? will Zaster get banned for posting this in caption mountain which we all had a lot of fun with? it's censhorship and it limits the funny. plus it's naive to think that kids can't and don't go 1000s of places online and see porn and stripcreator is hardly at the top of their list. i think allowing it is the best option, allowing it with a required NSFW tag is the second best, and censoring it is by far the worst

I don't want porn or "shock" links on Stripcreator. Stripcreator is extremely relaxed when it comes to swearing and rude subjects. Visuals are a whole other deal and not one I'm willing to defend.

There's nothing funny about posting links to porn or gross-out or obscene stuff that people may accidentally click or see. It's just stupid and pointless trolling. It derails threads, upsets people, makes it harder for users to visit Stripcreator at work or at school or just around others.

Nobody has complained to me about that Caption Mountain thread. And I wouldn't consider banning Zaster if I did wind up deleting it. He posted an image that was more explicit than I'd prefer in the forum designated for posting images. I'd explain why I deleted it and politely ask him to tone it down a bit in the future.

That's completely different than posting moronic links and images in the middle of active threads, which is just disruptive and stupid on its own and then is actually offensive to a lot of users due to the content linked. And then after someone says it offended them, heading over to the Bugs & Suggestions forum to do it a bit more. Above and beyond the actual content of the links, that demonstrates some serious disrespect for the other users on the site. And that's what's worth banning over.

One of the things which detracts me from posting in any number of threads is that whilst many start off as interesting and/or amusing, the majority end up tailing off into a sea of racial slurs, stupid links and obscene images. I'm not a prude, and am not personally offended by this sort of material, but I do find it incredibly irritating.

If people want to post daft pictures or see how many times they can type the word "nigger" before their fingers fall off, then by all means keep it contained within threads that never had any other purpose or point. But don't interrupt an otherwise perfectly funny and/or interesting thread with moronic postings that end up killing off the thread because people like me (and, I suspect, Kajun among others) can't be bothered to contribute anymore. It's just not cool.

I'm sure they were having fun. I'm also sure every troll who has come through here was having fun as well. Which then made lots of the other users not have fun. Is your argument that as long as one person is having fun I shouldn't do anything about it?

I agree, that sort of stuff is annoying. I'm never quite sure what to do about it though. Do I just straight-up start killing off-topic messages, ask them to stop, or what? Also users don't tend to point that stuff out to me. I only tend to hear about it when something quite bad happens.

Maybe we need a rule about thread hijacking/derailing and a little reminder on etiquette.

I think it should be a common courtesy thing. Yes, kids can find just about anything on the internet regardless of what we put up, but that doesn't mean we should add to the problem. I'm not saying censoring everything is the answer, just that we as members need to use more discretion. Sending someone a blind link to a buddy in IM as a joke is one thing, but posting that same link on a site where you know for a fact that there are kids that might see it is another.
