I agree with the part about not posting blind links and similarly offensive stuff, but I disagree with the idea of policing threads to the point where silly asides, non-sequiturs, and wacky photos are eliminated. The sub-title of the "General Discussion" forum is "babbling and silliness", not "seriousness and decorum." I'm not suggesting anarchy, but carrying it too far in the other direction, in my opinion, would kill off a lot of the spontaneity and fun that exists in the forums.

By all means, non-sequiturs and silly pictures have been a part of what makes these forums fun. My original argument (which Chi nicely elaborated on) was that if I post a thread saying "Look, I just bought a new car!" and then tell you about the new car I bought, other may post pictures of their cars, or cars they used to have, then Kaenash will post "THAT CAR IS:" followed by the NIGGERIFIC! picture.

Up until that point, what has my thread had to do with persons originating from Nigeria? Nothing, nada, zip. If I see a thread called "What if nigger meant..." and I were the type of person who was offended by such terms I could avoid it easily.

If it's a picture that may be considered offensive, post a link to it with a suitable warning or at least don't be all shocked if one of the moderators do.

i agree 100% with everything biped said. i don't care about banning the blind linking, i worry about over-moderating to the point that you kill the zany silliness of the forums

you can't beat biped's little asian boy accompanied by the hurtage of birds in space. He can try being as niggeriffic as he likes but I don't think something like that will help him fit in.

I think it would be a good idea to have a "warn" button next to every post, or a "warn" link that you can click when something just goes too far and when 5 or more people click it, it pops up a message to the mods or something. The number is, of course, at your discretion. It's just a basic idea model, Brad, but I think it would really help with the moderation of the threads. When enough people agree that something goes too far, you have a good consensus on it.

Just about anything has potential for abuse. If each member was limited to one "warning" per post or something, it wouldn't waste the mods' time and have them chasing wild geese because one member got a bug up their ass.

I think we have a good set of mods here, they generally have a better sense of humor than 60% of the regular users and they rarely kill a post without good cause.

I mean, some stripcreator users would never see the light of day if there was an "0ff-topic" ban.

BUT I love the idea of "no forum hijacking". Someone please help threads like "the run-on-sentence", they need your help.
