Although it seems like it, no, you didn't "hurt my feelings" by kicking me out of the channel. Yes, I was being vague and cliche 'weird', which might have been annoying to you. No, i wasn't being overly nice. I was playing around, and was asking for it. The only thing that threw me over the edge was the fact that you all put me on /ignore as if to "get back" at me for attacking you in some way, which i wasn't. (yet!) In fact, I was saying about one comment every few minutes. I don't want to be part of your channel or this forum. My anger is unrelated to this incident, and let me also add that it was very late at night here in Singapore. So, if you would all be so kind as to not bumb this thread any longer, i would grateful. Don't reply to this.

Odd... all the hardcore Radiohead fans I have ever known have been cool people. This young lady in particular co-runs a well-respected Radiohead fanzine in Melbourne. Pity she only did a handful of comics - they're really good.

I wasn't there, but you are exhibiting all of the qualities of one of the most pathetic archetypes present online. The archetype about which I'm talking is the Social Retard.

The Social Retard is characterized by an inability to comprehend the nuances, or many times even the broader elements, of social interaction.

Here is how I know you're a Social Retard, simply from reading the posts in this thread:

1. A group of really pretty decent people with at least a moderate amount of tolerance were in a chat together, and they all agree that you were deserving of a dismissal.

2. You felt the need to post to whine about this, displaying not only your ability to cope with the rejection of people YOU DON'T EVEN EVER HAVE TO SEE AGAIN, but your inability to grasp the concept that WE DON'T HAVE TO ACCEPT YOU. We decide who we like and dislike, and to whom we give our precious time. You didn't make the cut. Deal.

3. You keep telling people not to reply to you, yet you keep coming back and checking for replies. Just walk away. You won't get the last word. Or if you do, it will be in an empty room. The sad part is, due to your Social Retardation, you won't know the difference.

Now, understand that the above has constituted about 10 minutes of my life. That is ALL I am willing to give you. It is a gift. Do what you will with it. I'm almost certain that it has been wasted.

Look, wossname, just... don't be sorry, be different. If you don't change, people's views on you won't change. And, above all else, sometimes it's best to just listen and not talk. Easier to learn when you can't hear yourself.

I've been trying to stay out of the recent round of newbie wars, but I just want to take this opportunity to point out that this thread is the only time I can ever remember Brad openly criticizing a Stripcreator account-holder. That's evidence enough for me.

Actually, I mention this more to applaud Brad's calmness and restraint than anything else. We should all learn from his example.

The what mentioned above is total fiction. Please don't take it seriously!

DexX, I know that Pip can't be replaced, but it really helped me to go out and rescue another cat after Henry died. Actually, we adopted three. Then we adopted a dog just last month. They never stopped me missing Henry or regretting his death, but they did fill that unbearable silent emptiness in the house, and I felt good about giving some sweet, abandoned animals a home and family. I guess I felt guilty about moving on, but it really did help.

Yeah...

In my desperate attempts to inject meaning into a baffling event (seriously, Pip never went on the road, and he had a new bone to chew on in the back yard - I will never understand why we went for a walk and why he then wandered onto the road... makes no sense at all...) I have come up with a few "fate"-related ideas that are giving me a small degree of comfort. Among those is the idea that there is now another dog somewhere that needs us, and we will go and find him or her when we're ready.

I just don't want to try it too soon... I know I go on about it, but Pip was a very special dog. I am afraid that if we go and get a new dog too soon, we will be looking for a Pip-replacement, as opposed to a new dog (subtle difference). If we look for the former, we will be disappointed. I don't want to inadvertently love the new dog less because it isn't as friendly as Pip, or isn't as smart or obedient, or something like that. I think Quentin, Bec and I will know when the time is right, and then we'll go visit the pound, the lost dogs' home, and the RSPCA to find this new dog who I am convinced will be waiting for us.

Yes! There is!

I said the same thing but discovered that (for me) there was no such thing as "too soon." For me. Mileage may vary, of course.

You know what? It's been six years since I lost my last dog (in an emotionally messy divorce), and I went to adopt a dog about 3 weeks ago, and I was still looking at her as a Nita-replacement. I was aware of it and all, but it still happened. I got over it, though.

Murray was a replacement Henry at first, but we quickly grew to appreciate his unusual character. (He's probably the friendliest and most fearless cat on Earth.) Seems to me it doesn't matter how long you wait between pets-- you always think of them in terms of the last one for a little while, until you get to know them. Sorta like bitches, man. I mean relationships. Huh huh huh.

Right now I am just having trouble thinking of something, anything, other than how much I mis Pip and how much I would give to have him back. I'm going to wait for that to fade a bit before I consider getting a new dog.

As if you have a choice. We were going to give it a few months after losing our last cat. One month later, right after returning from a vacation, a neighbor asked JJ how Daisy was doing. After JJ explained that we'd recently lost her, Marie mentioned a churchmate who was moving across country, didn't (don't ask me why) want to take her two cats with her, and was going to put them (back) into the shelter, the rest was history. One month to the day after we'd said goodbye to Daisy, Sugar and Biscuit had invaded our home.

Speaking of our home, that in itself was in part due to our last dog's demise -- it enabled us to put the townhouse on the market and have strangers traipsing through without a hassle.

I sure know that feeling. I've lost so many dogs over the years.... Junebug was the worst. That was ten years ago, and I was trying to tell the dog adoption person about it the other day, and I couldn't finish the story.

How do these damned creatures worm their way into our affections like this? There ought to be a law.

In all honesty, though, I would rather be feeling this pain now, than never have had Pip's friendship in the first place.

It's tough, but it would be insulting to him if I just tried to forget.

I've never had a pet of my own (I'm only now thinking of getting a cat now that I have a half-decent home for it) but to whatever extent I can guess what it feels like to lose one, I sympathise.
