When I'm doing the low carb thing, Aspen Edge is actually kind of tolerable. Better than Michelob Ultra, which tastes like bongwater.

Y'know, I like Sierra Nevada, and I like stouts, but Sierra Nevada's stout tastes.. funny. It's like it's almost really good, but it fails somewhere and ends up being mediocre.

It's not terrible by any measure, but something just feels wrong about it. I dunno, maybe it's too rich for me. It tastes almost sweet, with a good hint of coffee, but it still feels off.

My hometown microbrewery Sprecher has some wonderful beers but they don't pasteurize it so it's only available within a few hundred miles of Milwaukee. If you're ever in Milwaukee I recommend the Sprecher tour, it's very interesting and the beer's free at the end :)

I've been drinking the sierra nevada stout all weekend. You're right in that it has a kind of...off-taste. My guess is that the flavors aren't perfectly matched to each other-- like if you poured two decent stouts together into one vat. However, I like the almost-sweet taste (though I'd say it has a bitter side as well) and have been enjoying my case all weekend. I wouldn't name it as a favorite though.

You can legally brew up to 200 gallons a year for personal consumption.

200 gal/yr / 365 d/yr = .548 gal/d
.548 gal/d * 128 oz/gal = 70.137 oz/d
70.137 oz/d / 12 oz/bottle = 5.845 bottles a freaking day.

That is an awful lot of beer for "personal consumption." Makes me wanna be a liver doctor.
