I'm reading Snow Crash right now. Now that cyberpunk isn't trendy anymore, I figure it's worth a look.

I just finished up Purgatory, and am currently finishing up Paradise in Dante's Inferno. Although I liked Hell the best.

I'd like to know why none of the sword fighters in Snow Crash are using rapiers, since they're fighting unarmored opponents.

In the future, rapiering your opponent is considered bad form.

I'm in the middle of the LotR trilogy, since I realized it had been about 10 years since I last read them. I'm also reading the Silmarillion, but it's not gripping me...

I got sidetracked from that when I saw the library had vols 1-3 of the Cartoon History of the Universe. That's some good stuff.

The Sirens of Titan after Slaughterhouse-Five, and before Player Piano, Cat's Cradle, Breakfast of Champions and Mother Night, assuming I can keep renewing that shit. It's a volume.

Shit? Whatchoo talkin' 'bout, willis? That man is sheer genius.

When you're done with Slaughterhouse, start up a thread for the huge number of Vonnegut fans here by telling us what you thought.

"Tarzan the Terrible"

Which is the sequel to Tarzan the Untamed (wherein Tarzan wantonly kills some WWI German ass).

In this book he goes searching for Jane in a previously undiscovered land in which meat-eating stegasaurs ("gryfs") terrorize the population of very-hyphenated-named non-human humanoids with tails. Yes, this land was previously undiscovered because it is separated from the rest of Africa by a terrible, terrible swamp.

Yeah, they crossed an ocean to discover the new world, but a swamp?

Stupid, entertaining, fun.

I need to reread that, but first I have to get through the massive pile of books I've built up. I've added more and yet, only completed two and a half.
