Can someone explain to me why it's always so critical that no one disturb Muslim terrorists when they are anywhere close to their mosques or religious holidays when they themselves ignore other's simple religious observations, you know, like "thou shalt not kill" and so forth? Also is the terror movement calling their suicide bombers "martyrs" like Fox News calling themselves "Fair and Balanced"? My understanding is that you have to be threatened with death, and accept death, rather than give up your religious beliefs to be considered a martyr. I don't think murdering others and yourself in the process quite qualifies.

I have nothing against the Israeli's killing terrorist leaders, but their methods only continue the cycle of attacks. There he is! Let's lob a missile at the guy!

Where is the famed Israeli intelligence service? Maybe something a little less subtle than a missile like... poison? Even an assasin's bullet would give them some plausable deniability. After all, the goal is to kill the guy, not give his followers even more incentive to bomb busses. Make them suspicious of each other, fighting among themselves.

The missile is kind of a dead giveaway.

Yeah I was wondering that myself. A missile seems like a last resort (surely even a sniper would be a better thing). I figure either 1) they can't get that close or 2) they want to send a message.

I think they've had the ability to kill him before, and just made the decision to do so, I don't think it's a matter of a failure of intelligence. But yes, the Israeli intelligence has a reputation I wonder if it is living up to (but just like with our CIA, you don't hear about the successes, just the defeats).

Politics aside I think it's a joke when Clarke says he was more concerned about terrorism than Bush. Of course he was! He was the counter terrorism chief! I'm sure the head of the Labor Department is more concerned about labor issues than the president, and so forth.

For instance you could be out of the loop on defense department issues, or state department issues, or just higher level planning issues but still be sitting in on all the meetings related to terrorism, in respect to your position as counter-terrorism chief.

Counter-terrorism issues for instance are only one element of planning a war on Afghanistan, or a war on Iraq (which I understand is something Clarke has been going on about).

I'm assuming the cartoon is supposed to lead you to believe that Cheney's statement is contradicting Rice's statement. I'm not sure the point of arguing with a site that also has a picture of Kerry up with a caption claiming he is "the more totally cool candidate because he likes to ski". I guess because they are using a comic-book style font the site is "hip and with it" and the content of the pictures really isn't that important, right?

In any event this man served under Clinton while Al-Qaeda was being left alone to grow into its prime. I think maybe he has some other guilt issues he is dealing with, as he alluded to when he took blame for failing to prevent the 9-11 attacks in front of the 9-11 commission. He obviously doesn't feel quite so guilty that he can't cash in with a nice fat juicy book deal though, so thank god for that, right?

I think that list you posted is somewhat misleading, fuzzyman. The administration used a shotgun approach to justify the war in the beginning, and only because the WMD claim was so spectatularly debunked does it seem like the only justification the put forward. The danger of that happening is why I said and still say the administration should have not pushed that claim so much, but I still supported and support the action. This isn't a political party thing, I still would have supported Clinton in an actual engagement of Saddam (and I'm sure he would have brought WMDs into the argument also).
