Iraq is blowing up in our faces, more or less literally. Key cities are now controlled by Shiite militants, US troops are taking heavy casualties, and word is that Sunnis have at last found common cause with Shiites-- in resisting the American occupation. The Shiite leader has announced that he will make Iraq another Vietnam for us. What a nice war. Mission accomplished.

83 days to go before we're supposed to turn the keys over to the puppet government in Baghdad. Think we'll make it?

I had this dream last night that DC and NYC were melted into the ground by asteroids that came out of nowhere. Literally melted into a massive flow of molten debris. It was pretty cool, visually. When someone asked the government why they didn't happen to notice these damned things earlier they claimed there was an intelligence failure. It ended with a lot of humans living on other planets just to get away from all the mess.

I don't know if it has any sort of political significance, but the special effects were awesome. Though I was disappointed that no one got eaten by dinosaurs. That would have made it perfect.

If I had a point, it's eluding me.

Not notice that the President photo-opped in front of a banner declaring "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" almost a year ago, and here we are, bogged down in the very quagmire he denied we were getting into? The same quagmire W's own father warned about in his 1995 memoirs? Noticing that we're wreaking havoc and getting killed over there (and for what? Halliburton profits?) somehow means we're full of hatred? Loving your country means waving a flag and applauding whenever the President belches up yet another stinking lie?

By the way (breaking news) our armed forces are 100% voluntary. A lot of troops are actually RELIEVED that they are finally getting to take part in combat and going after their attackers instead of avoiding skirmishes for political reasons and remaining sitting ducks.

Though you wouldn't care to investigate the real situation, I imagine.

(That came from one of those "pro-anti-war" rallies. When they couldn't get enough people to show up to the anti-war rallies without looking like a joke they tried to plant fake "pro-war" protesters so they wouldn't look so lonely).

Spankling, the suicide rate amongst soldiers is about on par with young males of that age not at war. But even despite that the military has dispached psychological help to the area.

And how would that not back up my claim that the forces are voluntary? If the rate of suicides WERE higher it might back up my claim that not being able to engage the enemy is causing them stress.

Also do you know how many people die in car accidents everday? Why don't you moan about that everyime somebody dies.
