I don't really think it's a partisan issue as to whether or not we should give in to al-Qaeda's demands. I think if any president, Republican or Democrat, said we should do such a thing they'd be ruined in politics forever. Kerry's only chance on this issue is to take a cue from Kennedy versus Nixon and try to run farther right than Bush on the war on terror.
I don't see how you tie me not wanting to give in to al-Qaeda with a Republican agenda, I think that's across the board not even considered, and why I thought boorite must have been joking. I guess given his response he wasn't. I'm still not sure why this pushed his buttons when nothing else did. Was I not supposed to take that idea seriously? I guess if it looked like I was missing the joke on purpose that could be irritating, but he sounded pretty serious.
In case my point wasn't clear, I completely and totally disagree with the idea of either caving in to al-Qaeda's demands or giving up on hunting them down. We had a hands-off approach for a long time and it only encouraged them. When their "potential base" consists of religious fanatics wanting to oppress women and kill jews, I really don't care about working to appease them either, nor do I think we could do anything that would change their mind about the U.S. just by leaving them alone. Their religious leaders are still going to pass the buck to us anyway.
If you tell me what I'm doing that makes you mad, I'll stop, unless it's just me disagreeing. If you're getting that mad because I disagree maybe you should double-check what forum you're in (or what country you're in).
