Settlement is not a possibility in a criminal trial. Plea bargaining is, though. He could plead guilty to a lesser offense... though I'm not really sure if that works when the charge is child molestation.

I think he's going to prison. Close second possibility is beating the charges OJ-style (Cochran's on the team, I heard). Distant third is fleeing the country.

The FBI have been searching Michael Jackson's home and have just announced their findings:
They found class A drugs in the kitchen,
Class B drugs in the lounge
and class 5c in the bedroom.

No, thanks. "Settle" doesn't encompass that, so let's not let it. I agree that plea-bargaining and charges-dropping are plausible scenarios, but I wouldn't put a penny on either of them. Many people have nursed this grudge a long time, and this is a criminal case designed to get the bastard. No more civil suits, no more buying off the whistle-blowers. The stakes here are ass-in-jail. The shot has been fired and the bullet can't be recalled.

That's what I think, anyway. We'll see.
