Me and Jes_L met up in the "Panton Arms" this evening for drinks and chat - this was the first time I've met anyone from the glorious SC community, and it was pretty damn cool.

I stood outside the pub awaiting Jes's arrival, only to find that he'd got there before me, so in fact I was standing outside for no reason... he thankfully came out to greet me after a few minutes, so he must've at least drawn some parallel between me and my HeroGenerator avatar. After the usual pleasantries, we got some drinks in and had a good old natter about this, that and everything else. I'll admit it was a little strange at first, given that although we've known each other online for a while, meeting in person was slightly different. That said, Jes's online persona certainly shines through in real life, and despite a few differences here and there, he's still the Jes we all know and love. Several more drinks later, and the conversation became more highbrow, even touching on philosophy at one point - much to my delight, of course ;-) Alas, due to constraints of public transport, Jes had to set off to the station at around 9pm so our drinking had to come to an end.

All in all, it was good fun, and Jes was clearly not too frightened by me in the flesh (or at least if he was, he was good-mannered enough not to show it) - thanks for a pleasant evening, Jes.

After a day of being repeatedly instructed how to "think outside the box", what better way to relax in Cambridge than to meet everyone's favourite cynic, Chi?

After slightly startling him by appearing from inside the pub, where I'd been visiting the facilities, we proceeded to get the beers in and discuss everything from university life, to future careers, to ladies, to Stripcreator. The conversation got more animated as the beers flowed and the effects of nerves and too much free training day coffee began to kick in, yes, we even through philosophy as well at one point, though sadly around the time I had to go home.

It was good to meet another person from the internet - it's always a little weird when you meet someone where the only correspondance you've had has been through an interactive text-based medium. Chi's a lot more softly spoken that I was expecting but part of the fun of actually meeting people is being surprised by the unexpected and challenging your preconditions. I look forward to meeting more "strippers" at a later date.

And yes, his "Cynic" hat is amazing.

I first saw Jes from my vantage point under the big-screen. He bought himself a Bud draught and took his seat in a cosy corner of the bar. When he went to the loo I took the opportunity to slither on over to the next nearest table. Jes' first two gulps almost drained his pint then he remained motionless like a lazy lamenated crocodile for the next 7 minutes, only blinking once. He finished his pint on his next gulp after carefully rotating the glass a few times to find a place where his lips hadn't touched yet.
He then sat bolt upright and whispered audibly " Fuck it! I'm off". and waltzed out the pub.

Only to waltz back in again with Chi the Cynic on his arm.
Chi never bought a drink the whole night and when he first went to the bar he came back with a Red-Stripe for Jes and an empty pint glass for himself.
He then proceeded to entirely fill his own glass with dry roasted peanuts bought from the bar. On top of the peanuts he placed a small cocktail umbrella and a small bar of soap.
He never touched the peanuts again but would point to it occasionally and say to Jes with enthusiasm " Eh? Eh?"
Jes would nod then mouth "Jesus Christ" as soon as Chi looked away.
Chi would drink from Jes' pint when he went to the toilet. He would then conceal this theft by displacing the stolen liquid with chocolate maltesers tied to marbles so they would sink.

They talked about 'philosophy' just before they left. I never knew Phill Collins had an album called that so I learned something new that night.

I never introduced myself all night as I am lactose intolerant and Jes had a slice of pizza stuck to his chin all night. Chi had some broccoli stuck between his teeth. Neither mentioned the others poor hygene.

mmyers - He and I (or at least I) could talk for hours about film shit.

Kevin_Keegans_Perm - This fucker is fun. I know it.

boorite - One of the best strippers here. I bet I could beat him in thumbwrestling.

There are quite a few others as well, but since I don't talk to too many of them often, they'll just have to know that I think of them when looking somewhere, out there, beneath the pale blue sky.

There is a lot of Scots here right? There is a stand-up comedy pub in Edinburgh I have always meant to spend a night in. It would be cool to hook up with some scusers and take in a gig. I'd be all like "He's shit!" and shit. And he'd be all like "Oh yeah?" I'd say "yeah!", then he would say "Well why don't you stand up here and try it?" and I'd say "No thanks, I can be just as shit sitting down."

The crowd would be like "OOOOOOOOOH!"

and I'd be all like *shick! shick! shick!* (thats the sound of the dog who is allowed into the bar getting glassed in the neck 3 times).
